Do the Rear Brake Pads for FK7 fit the factory rear calipers?

Yes. Spoon and Go Tuning both list these pads for the factory rear calipers on the FK7 and FL1 hatchback and the FC1 sedan. The Rear Brake Pads for FK7 need no caliper change, so the Street friction is a straightforward replacement during routine pad service on a car that is otherwise stock.

Which compound should I choose?

Pick Street for a car on factory front brakes or one driven mostly on public roads; it is rated from 0 to 500 degrees C. Pick Circuit if the car runs the Spoon six-piston front caliper and spends most of its time on track, since Spoon tuned that pad for front to rear balance with the bigger front brake.

Are the Street pads noisy?

No. Spoon reports that the Street friction produces almost no brake squeal even after sports driving, and it claims wear comparable to the factory pad. That makes it a reasonable everyday pad for an owner who wants steadier bite and better fade resistance without living with the noise many track compounds bring.

Do I need the six-piston front kit to use the Circuit pads?

No, they will fit the factory rear caliper on any registered car. Spoon developed them specifically to balance its 6-Pot Full Monoblock front caliper on track, so on a car with factory front brakes the rear may end up doing more work than intended. For that car the Street friction is the sensible choice.

Does one order cover both rear wheels?

Yes. Spoon sells the pad as a set, and each Street or Circuit option is one rear axle set for both rear calipers. Front pads are separate parts: owners on the Spoon six-piston front caliper need the dedicated MB6 front pads, while cars on factory front brakes need a pad made for that caliper.

Description

Spoon Sports Rear Brake Pads for FK7 / FL1 / FC1 Honda Civic

The Spoon Sports Rear Brake Pads for FK7 and FL1 hatchbacks and the FC1 sedan fit the factory rear calipers and come in two frictions with different jobs. The Street pad is the all-rounder: Spoon claims wear resistance on a par with the factory pad, steady bite and control from cold to hot, better fade resistance, and almost no squeal after hard driving, with a rating of 0 to 500 degrees C. Spoon sees a sports pad as the first brake change worth making on these cars, whose factory front discs measure 282 mm. The Circuit pad has a narrower purpose. Spoon developed it to give the best front to rear brake balance on cars running its 6-Pot Full Monoblock front caliper and driven mainly on track, and rates it from 0 to 600 degrees C. A road car on factory front brakes belongs on the Street pad; the Circuit pad makes most sense alongside the six-piston kit.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
