Nitron Front Adjustable Top Plates for FD2 Honda Civic Type R

Lowering an FD2 on coilovers takes care of ride height, but it does nothing to the front alignment settings. The top of each front strut is still bolted to a fixed rubber mount, and that leaves very little room to fine-tune the geometry the front tires depend on. Nitron’s FD2 Type R top plates move the adjustment to the top of the strut. Camber and caster can both be set right at the mount, using rigid aluminum plates in place of the factory rubber. On a front-wheel-drive car that already loads its front tires hard through the K20’s rev range, being able to add negative camber for mid-corner grip is the difference between a front end that pushes and one that holds. Extra caster adds steering weight and stability on the brakes. Standard geometry can also be kept if you’d rather leave alignment alone. The Nitron FD2 Type R top plates come as a pair for the front axle, finished in Nitron’s titanium grey anodizing.

Rubber-Free Construction

Rubber mounts are designed to absorb vibration, but they also let the strut top move under load. Hard braking and fast corners push the geometry away from what was set on the alignment rack. Nitron developed these top plates to international motorsport standards, with no rubber at all. Positive location and adjustment mechanisms hold each strut in place, so the camber and caster you dial in are the camber and caster you actually run on track. The steering also gets more direct, with fewer layers between the tires and your hands. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
