How does the R304 70RS Exhaust for AP1 cars differ from the R304 70RR?

Both use a 70mm main pipe. The R304 70RS Exhaust for AP1 and AP2 cars adds a silencer in the center section, while the 70RR omits it and starts further forward in the system for the lowest exhaust resistance. Choose the 70RS if you want the big bore with some extra silencing.

Will I lose low-end torque with the bigger pipe?

No. The manufacturer states that the 70mm main pipe greatly improves pull in the mid and upper rev range and raises peak power without sacrificing the low rpm range. No dyno figures are published, so the size of the gain on your S2000 will depend on the rest of the engine setup.

Why choose the R304 over the FX-PRO 70RS?

Budget and material are the deciding factors. The R304 pairs a stainless body with a titanium tail and costs far less, whereas the FX-PRO 70RS is all titanium and promises a weight saving of over 50 percent versus stock. Both carry a 70mm main pipe and a center silencer.

Does it fit the AP1 and AP2?

Yes. This R304 is a dedicated S2000 design, listed for the 1999 to 2003 AP1 with the 2.0L F20C and the 2004 to 2009 AP2 with the 2.2L F22C. The manufacturer mentions no differences in fitment between the two generations.

What does it sound like?

Revving out, the stainless system gives a smooth, rising high-pitched tone that turns sharp at the circuit, according to the manufacturer, and the VTEC changeover to the high cam brings an audible crack. No decibel figure is published for the 70RS, so Bulletproof Automotive cannot quote one.

Description

J’s Racing R304 70RS Exhaust for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s R304 70RS Exhaust for AP1 and AP2 S2000s takes the 70mm main pipe of the Osaka tuner’s 70RR and adds a silencer in the center section, giving a big-bore stainless system with some restraint built in. J’s Racing says the larger pipe markedly extends the pull through the mid and upper rev range and lifts peak power, without costing low-rpm response. Like the rest of the R304 family, sold in Japan as the SUS Exhaust Plus, it is hand TIG welded in SUS304 with a titanium cut-bend dolphin tail. It is aimed at a modified S2000 that spends real time on track; a mostly street-driven car is better matched to the 60RS.

Construction

J’s Racing builds the main pipe from 1.2mm SUS304 and the silencer from 1.0mm SUS304, with ultra-thin flanges to keep weight down for better dynamic performance under hard driving. Each system is finished by hand, so small jig marks from production can remain and the color on the titanium tail varies slightly between units.

Features

70mm main pipe shared with the 70RR
Center-section silencer, which the 70RR does without
Stronger mid and high rpm pull and higher peak power, per J’s Racing
SUS304 stainless body with a titanium dolphin tail
Sharp stainless sound with a crack at the VTEC changeover
Engineered specifically for the S2000

Specifications

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
