What else do I need with the 6-Pot Full Monoblock Caliper Set?

The 6-Pot Full Monoblock Caliper Set needs two Spoon 312 mm front rotors, sold one at a time, and a set of the dedicated Spoon MB6 front pads in Street or Circuit. Spoon also recommends its matching rear pads so the brake balance stays correct.

Will the calipers clear my wheels?

On factory wheels, Spoon says the FK7 needs a 7 mm spacer and the FL1 a 10 mm spacer, each with longer hub bolts. For aftermarket wheels, Spoon publishes a paper template to hold against the back of the wheel; at least 2 mm of clearance to the marked area means the wheel fits.

How much bigger is the brake than stock?

The factory front disc on these Civics is 282 mm across and 23 mm thick. The Spoon kit moves to a 312 mm rotor that is 25 mm thick and adds six pistons per side. Spoon built it because the factory disc ran beyond 500 degrees C in sports driving.

Is the kit suitable for a car driven on the street?

Yes. Spoon designed the ultra-thin pistons and large dust boots to meet street as well as circuit requirements, and the Street pad suits road driving. The value case is strongest on a car that sees track days, since the conversion costs far more than pads, fluid and hoses.

Are rotors and pads part of the set?

No. The set covers the left and right calipers, and Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, states that it ships with the caliper brackets. The 312 mm rotors and the MB6 pads are separate Spoon parts, and spacers and longer hub bolts for factory wheels must be bought as well.

Description

Spoon Sports 6-Pot Full Monoblock Caliper Set for FK7 / FL1 / FC1 Honda Civic

The Spoon Sports 6-Pot Full Monoblock Caliper Set for FK7, FL1 and FC1 Civic grew out of time attack testing on the tenth-generation car. Spoon found that a curb weight above 1300 kg loaded the factory 282 by 23 mm front discs so heavily that sports driving pushed them beyond 500 degrees C, a temperature Spoon compares to racing. Its answer was a six-piston caliper based on the unit it had raced in the Super Taikyu endurance series since 2016, paired with a 312 by 25 mm front rotor. It is a full conversion for owners who track the car; on a road-only hatchback, pads and hoses do most of the job for far less.

Six staggered pistons of 36, 34 and 27 mm
Fewer rubber parts for less fluid loss

Staggered pistons spread pad pressure to limit taper wear

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
