This Ford GT elec-TRON R1 kit runs Nitron’s Standalone Electronic Damping configuration, built for platforms like the Ford GT that never came with a factory electronic damping system to interface with. A proprietary proportional solenoid valve sits in each shock, giving the included DCU independent control over damping at every corner. Vehicle speed, road surface, driver input, and g-load are all read at the same time, with adjustments made roughly every six milliseconds, quicker than a human eye can finish blinking. The suspension is responding to what’s actually happening under the car as it happens, not adjusting after the fact.

elec-TRON DCU (Damper Control Unit)

Without the DCU, these are just very good passive dampers. With it, the setup becomes semi-active, constantly repositioning each elec-TRON valve based on live data about braking, cornering, and acceleration forces acting on the car, updating all four corners roughly every 5 milliseconds. That’s the difference between a suspension tuned once and left alone and one that’s continuously recalculating for grip and comfort while the car is moving. The driver still has a say in the matter through the DCU’s control knob, which switches between Rain, Tour, Sport, and Race maps, setting the overall character while the moment-to-moment adjustment keeps happening underneath automatically.
