How do I know whether I need slip-on or V-clamp?

Look at the joint where the downpipe meets the front pipe. Supersprint lists 526512 in its systems built around a slip-on downpipe connection and 525612 in its systems built around a V-clamp connection. If you are unsure, send a photo of the joint to Bulletproof Automotive before ordering and we will confirm the right part.

Which engines does it fit?

Supersprint registers it for the four-cylinder B46 and B48 engines only. That covers the 320i and 330i, the 420i and 430i Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe, the G42 220i and 230i and the X3 and X4 four-cylinder models. It does not fit the six-cylinder M340i or M440i, which have their own front pipe sets.

Supersprint’s Slip-On Front Pipe for G20 / G21 BMW 3 Series answers a narrower question than its V-clamp twin: what joins a slip-on downpipe to the rest of a Supersprint system on the four-cylinder cars. The route and the list of cars are the same. What changes is the collar at the front, and getting it right is the difference between a system that seals on the first fit and one that needs a clamp shop. Supersprint keeps it in stock in Mantova.

Supersprint has built exhaust systems in Mantova, Italy since 1955, designing and manufacturing in house rather than assembling bought-in parts. Piping is AISI 304 stainless at a nominal 1.5mm wall, mandrel bent and TIG or MIG welded to CNC machined stainless flanges 7mm to 12mm thick; AISI 310S and Inconel come out where thermal load is highest, and catalyst hardware comes from HJS. Every application is developed against a baseline measured on the AWD MAHA dynamometer in Mantova, which is why the catalogue is model specific rather than universal.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
