Why 70mm tubing instead of 76mm?

Because bigger is not better on a naturally aspirated 4.0L. Going to 3 inches costs exhaust gas velocity through the midrange without adding anything at the top of the rev range. Fabspeed settled on 2.75 inches and built the cast X-pipe to match, which is why the system pulls cleanly from low rpm rather than only coming alive near the limiter.

Will it drone on the highway?

It should not. The investment cast X-pipe equalises pulses between the banks and cancels the low-frequency resonance that causes cabin drone, and Fabspeed developed the system specifically to avoid introducing any. The casting matters here: pie-cut fabricated X-pipes disrupt flow in ways that can reintroduce exactly the resonance the design is meant to remove.

The Titanium Supercup Cat Back Exhaust for the 992 GT3 and GT3 RS is the version of this system with nothing held back. Fabspeed has been designing, engineering, dyno testing and race proving its own work for more than thirty years across air-cooled and water-cooled Porsches, and the titanium Supercup is where that experience shows up as restraint rather than excess: mandrel bent titanium throughout, a proprietary 70mm investment cast titanium X-pipe with no pie-cuts anywhere in it, and 2.75 inch tubing chosen deliberately over the 3 inch everyone else reaches for. Twenty-seven pounds come off the back of the car. What arrives in their place is the exotic, high-pitched top end the 4.0L always had in it and the factory system never let out, with the resonance engineered away rather than simply tolerated.
