HKS’s LEGAMAX Sports Exhaust for FL5 Honda Civic Type R answers the one thing the factory system holds back, which is flow. HKS removes the factory valve mechanism entirely and spends the volume it frees on a wider, genuinely straight path, dropping exhaust pressure by roughly 30 percent compared to the factory system. A 119mm titanium tail with the logo pressed into its face replaces the muted factory exit, and a dedicated actuator for the factory valve motor ships in the box so the car keeps its valve logic and records no fault codes. Built in S3 and S4L stainless with JQR type approval, it is the system HKS developed alongside its own FL5 programme.

Design and Performance

Removing the valves is what makes the gain possible. The factory pipe runs 60mm into twin 50mm sections with the valve shut and a single 60mm section with it open, while the LEGAMAX Sports Exhaust for FL5 runs 74.7mm into twin 60.5mm at every rpm. Because the factory ECU manages output on a torque model, flow alone will not move the peak far: HKS measured a gain of 2kW and 3.7Nm on a Japan-market FL5 with its own Power Editor fitted, and says plainly that raising boost from there is where the rest of the output sits. The note is clear and sporty across the range, with no valve mechanism left to colour it.
