Can I install the Stainless Brake Lines for DC5 cars myself?

The manufacturer asks that the Stainless Brake Lines for DC5 cars be installed by a properly equipped repair shop, because brake hoses are a safety-critical part. Poor assembly or an incomplete bleed can cause brake failure, so read the included instructions and let a qualified technician fit and bleed the system.

How do these differ from the factory rubber hoses?

Rubber hose expands as hot brake fluid pressurizes it, which makes the pedal sink and feel spongy under hard braking. The PTFE hose and stainless mesh here barely expand even at high temperature and pressure, so the pedal stays firm and braking force builds in a linear way.

Will the lines change how ABS feels?

The manufacturer says the lines improve control when ABS or brake assist is working, because less hose expansion means pressure changes reach the calipers more directly. The ABS system itself is not modified, and the factory hardware keeps doing its job as before.

Are the hoses tested before they ship?

Yes. Each hose is pressurized individually and checked for leaks before it leaves the factory in Japan. The manufacturer also notes that its brake line systems have proven their strength and durability in motorsport, which is where the design was developed and refined.

Do these lines fit a US-market Acura RSX?

Yes. The US distributor lists this brake line system under the RSX, which shares the DC5 chassis with the Japanese Integra Type R that the lines were developed for. If your car has an aftermarket big brake kit, check with us first, since hose ends may differ.

Description

J’s Racing Stainless Brake Lines for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Stainless Brake Lines for DC5 Integra Type R and RSX cars swap the factory rubber hoses for PTFE hose wrapped in stainless mesh, finished with stainless fittings. Rubber hose swells as the brake fluid heats under hard use, so the pedal travels further and goes soft; this construction barely expands even when hot and under high pressure. What J’s Racing promises is a crisp pedal and linear braking force that stays the same from the first stop to the last lap, plus better control while ABS or brake assist is working. Any DC5 that sees track days should have them, and daily drivers still feel a firmer pedal.

Construction

The PTFE hose was developed for aircraft use for its resistance to pressure and heat, and a clear coat over the stainless mesh completes the pressure-resistant structure. Every hose is pressure tested before it leaves J’s Racing to confirm there are no leaks, and the stainless fittings resist rust so the system holds up as the car ages.

Features

PTFE inner hose wrapped in stainless steel mesh
Clear-coated outer layer
Rust-resistant stainless steel fittings
Every hose pressure tested for leaks before shipping
Pedal feel stays consistent as brake temperatures rise
Sharper control when ABS or brake assist is active

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
