Is the Street Side Splitter Kit for ZN6 as effective as the composite version?

Yes. Verus Engineering publishes the same figures for both: the Street Side Splitter Kit for ZN6 reduces the lift coefficient by 0.011 and the drag coefficient by 0.002. The difference lies in the horizontal splitters, which are hard, durable plastic here and carbon thermoplastic in the composite kit, and in the price.

Do side splitters affect drag?

Yes, they reduce it. Verus Engineering measured a 2 point drop in drag coefficient alongside an 11 point reduction in lift with this kit installed. The vertical skirt limits the high-pressure air that reaches the underside of the car, so the side splitters make downforce while the car moves through the air with less resistance.

How are the street side splitters installed?

They bolt to the pinch weld through twelve billet 6061-T6 aluminum mounts, with sheet aluminum brackets holding the stiff rubber skirts. Verus Engineering chose that mounting to avoid fixing anything into the underbody, and supplies stainless hardware, an install manual and an install video covering the Toyota 86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ.

Which Verus aero package includes the side splitters?

The side splitters belong to the Verus Engineering Ventus 2 package for the 86, FR-S and BRZ, which reduces lift from the factory figure in an efficient and balanced way. Ventus 2 is the step beyond Ventus 1, the front splitter and rear diffuser combination Verus aims at regular track day drivers.

Can the street side splitters be adjusted?

Yes. Each side splitter and its vertical skirt can move in and out and up and down on the mounts, which lets the installer position them evenly along both sills. Verus Engineering developed the fit from in-house scan data, optimized the shape in CFD and builds the kit in the U.S.A.

Description

Verus Engineering Street Side Splitter Kit for ZN6 Toyota 86, Scion FR-S and ZC6 Subaru BRZ

Verus Engineering’s Street Side Splitter Kit for ZN6 Toyota 86, Scion FR-S and ZC6 Subaru BRZ delivers the same published aerodynamic result as the Verus composite kit using hard, durable plastic side splitters, the lower-cost route for a car that sees more road than circuit. Each side combines a horizontal splitter with a vertical underbody skirt to keep high-pressure air from reaching the underside. Verus puts the effect at 11 points less lift and 2 points less drag, so the kit makes downforce and trims drag at once.

Mounting and Adjustment

Twelve billet 6061-T6 aluminum pinch weld mounts hold the kit, a less invasive approach than fixing into the underbody. Both the splitter and the skirt adjust in and out and up and down, and the four stiff rubber skirt sections ride on sheet aluminum brackets. Verus built the fit from in-house scan data.

About Verus Engineering

Verus Engineering designs aerodynamic and performance parts in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two engineers founded it in late 2014 as Velox Motorsports and renamed it in 2017 after a trademark dispute; verus is Latin for true or complete. Each design starts from a 3D scan of the car, is developed with CFD and finite element analysis and is validated on track, across more than 20 platforms from the GR86 to the C8 Corvette.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
