Do the Wind Deflectors for A90 need any drilling?

No. The Wind Deflectors for A90 bond to the side mirror bases with 3M VHB double-sided tape, which Verus Engineering includes in the kit. Verus contoured the carbon to the mirror bases from its own scan data so each piece sits flush, and publishes an install video that walks through placement on the Mk5 Supra.

Why does the Supra buffet with the windows down?

Air flowing around the A-pillar keeps attaching to and breaking away from the body when the side windows are open. Each cycle sends a pressure wave into the cabin, and together they produce the throbbing noise owners complain about. Verus Engineering designed its deflectors so the airflow separates cleanly as it passes the window opening, which ends the cycle.

Will the deflectors add drag or upset a rear wing?

No. Verus Engineering put the deflectors through CFD analysis during development to confirm they create no unnecessary drag and do not disturb the airflow in a way that hurts aerodynamic parts further back on the car. That check matters on a Supra carrying a rear diffuser or a wing from the Ventus range.

What are the Verus wind deflectors made from?

Each one is built from two pieces of 2x2 twill 3k pre-preg carbon fiber, autoclave cured and bonded together, with automotive high-gloss clear over the weave. Verus Engineering chose the two-piece construction for fit and finish, and used scan data and CFD to shape the final form around the side mirror bases of the A90.

Are the Wind Deflectors for A90 included in the Ventus aero packages?

Yes. Verus Engineering puts a pair in the Ventus 1 package and again in Ventus 2, so anyone who bought either Supra package already has them. Owners building their aero one part at a time, or who simply want a quieter cabin with the windows open, can buy them here on their own.

Description

Verus Engineering Anti-Buffeting Wind Deflectors for A90 Toyota GR Supra

Verus Engineering’s Anti-Buffeting Wind Deflectors for A90 Toyota GR Supra cure the throbbing pressure that fills the Mk5 cabin once the windows come down at speed, a problem Verus found bad enough to force the windows shut on its own shop car. A carbon deflector sits at each side mirror base, contoured from Verus scan data. Owners who drive with the windows open get the full benefit; anyone who keeps them shut has little reason to fit them.

The Science

Verus traced the buffeting to airflow around the A-pillar, which attaches to and breaks away from the body while the windows are open and sets up pressure waves inside the cabin. The deflectors make the flow separate cleanly as it passes the window opening, which stops the cycle. Verus then ran the design through CFD to keep drag in check and to confirm it does not disturb the air reaching aero parts further back on the car.

About Verus Engineering

Verus Engineering designs aerodynamic and performance parts in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two engineers founded it in late 2014 as Velox Motorsports and renamed it in 2017 after a trademark dispute; verus is Latin for true or complete. Each design starts from a 3D scan of the car, is developed with CFD and finite element analysis and is validated on track, across more than 20 platforms from the GR86 to the C8 Corvette.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
