What else is needed to use the Front Brake Pads for FK7?

These pads only fit the Spoon 6-Pot Full Monoblock Caliper Set, so the car must carry that caliper and its dedicated 312 mm front rotor. The Front Brake Pads for FK7 cannot be mounted in the factory caliper, and Spoon recommends fitting its matching rear pads at the same time.

Should I choose the Street or the Circuit compound?

Choose Street if the car spends most of its time on the road; Spoon rates it from 0 to 400 degrees C. Choose Circuit for time attack or repeated sessions, where Spoon rates it up to 600 degrees C. Spoon saw rotor temperatures above 500 degrees C on this Civic in sports driving.

Will these pads fit the factory front caliper?

No. Spoon designed the MB6 pad exclusively for the 6-Pot Full Monoblock caliper and states plainly that it cannot be installed in the factory caliper. Owners on factory front brakes need a different pad, and these should only be ordered for a car already running the Spoon caliper or being converted to it.

Can I run Circuit pads on the street?

Yes, but the Street friction is the better match for daily use. The Circuit compound is built for high temperatures and a car driven only on public roads may never bring it fully up to heat. An owner who drives to the track and back may prefer to swap compounds around events.

Does one order cover both front wheels?

Yes. Spoon sells the MB6 pad as a set, and each Street or Circuit option is one front axle set covering both six-piston calipers. Rear pads are a separate Spoon part, available in the same two frictions, so a full change front and rear means ordering both items.

Description

Spoon Sports Front Brake Pads for FK7 / FL1 / FC1 Honda Civic 6-Pot Monoblock

Spoon Sports’ Front Brake Pads for FK7 hatchback, FL1 hatchback and FC1 sedan Civics are the MB6 pads made only for the Spoon 6-Pot Full Monoblock caliper, so they are the consumable that keeps that caliper working. Spoon offers two frictions. The Street compound is rated from 0 to 400 degrees C and suits a car that does most of its miles on the road with occasional spirited drives. The Circuit compound extends the rating to 600 degrees C for owners who time attack or run back-to-back sessions, where Spoon measured disc temperatures on the tenth-generation Civic rising past 500 degrees C. The MB6 shape matches the six pistons of 36, 34 and 27 mm, which Spoon sized to even out pad pressure and limit taper wear. These pads will not fit the factory caliper, so they are for cars already on the Spoon six-piston kit or being converted to it.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
