The 340R was always closer to a track car than a road car, and the Nitron 340R RacePro 3 coilover kit takes it the rest of the way. It’s the only 3-way adjustable Nitron kit for the car, and the only one built to full-race specification. A 46mm piston sits at the center of each damper, and each corner has independent adjustment of rebound, low-speed compression and high-speed compression. On a car with so little mass over each wheel, small changes in damping are felt right away. Separating them lets you deal with one handling trait without disturbing another. Low-speed compression and rebound govern how the body pitches into the braking zone and settles through the corner. High-speed compression governs how the wheels react to curbs and sharp bumps. Hose-mounted reservoirs front and rear put the compression adjusters within reach, and the 340R’s open bodywork makes them easier to get at than on almost any other car. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
