Twenty-five years on, many S1 cars are running worn factory dampers or an old aftermarket setup that has lost its valving. Either way, the car bounces off crests, crashes over sharp edges, and feels nervous when you start to push. The Nitron Exige NTR-R1 FastRoad kit fixes that with hand-built coilovers that are sprung and valved for owners who drive the S1 on the street and take it to an occasional track day. A single adjuster at each corner sets bump and rebound together. The Nitron Exige NTR-R1 stays easy to dial in, whether you’re on a cold, bumpy back road or warm tarmac in the afternoon session. It bolts straight to the factory mounting points with no brackets needed, so installation is simple.

Unique Technology

Nitron developed the NTR-R1 through its race department, and the Nitron Exige NTR-R1 uses much of the same internal hardware as the NTR-R3 that Nitron runs in international motorsport. Each damper carries its nitrogen charge internally, so there’s no remote canister to mount and no hoses to route around the S1’s tight engine bay or front clamshell. The dampers run inverted, which takes unsprung weight off each corner and lets the wheels react more quickly to the road. Internal friction is kept extremely low, so the piston starts moving as soon as the tire hits a change in the surface. On the Nitron Exige NTR-R1, that’s what stops the light S1 from skipping over mid-corner bumps and keeps the nose settled under hard braking. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule.
