What do the Rear Compensator Arms for EK9 cars adjust?

Rear toe. The compensator arm is the link that supports the rear toe angle, and the Rear Compensator Arms for EK9 cars add a turnbuckle so that angle can be set in fine increments. That gives more freedom in alignment and lets you tune the handling to your preference or to a specific circuit.

Why replace the bushing with a pillow ball?

A rubber bushing flexes under load, which can cause judder and small, unwanted alignment changes as the suspension works. The manufacturer fits a pillow ball instead, which removes that judder and keeps the toe setting more stable when the car is cornering or braking hard.

Is an alignment required after installation?

Yes. The manufacturer insists on a wheel alignment every time these arms are fitted. Because the turnbuckle sets rear toe, a correct alignment is the only way to put the car where you want it, and incorrect toe can make the rear of a front-wheel-drive car unstable.

Should I buy other arms with them?

Yes, if you want the full range of adjustment. The manufacturer says a more ideal setup is possible when these are used together with its adjustable front upper arms and rear upper arms, both sold separately. Together they cover front camber, rear camber and rear toe, the main settings for tuning an EK9 chassis.

Can these be used on a US-spec Civic?

No, not as a listed fit. The arms are developed for the Japanese-market EK9 Civic Type R with the B16B engine, and the manufacturer names no US-spec car. Send us your details before ordering so we can confirm with the US distributor whether the rear toe arm matches.

Description

J’s Racing Rear Compensator Arms for EK9 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Rear Compensator Arms for EK9 Civic Type R suspension tuning address the arm that holds the rear toe angle, a small part with a large effect on how the car turns in and settles. J’s Racing replaces the bushing with a pillow ball and builds a turnbuckle into the arm, so rear toe can be set in fine steps. That widens the alignment options and lets the owner shape the handling to taste, or tailor it to each circuit. The pillow ball also removes judder and reduces unwanted alignment change under suspension load. These suit a driver who aligns the car for events; a road car on factory settings will not use them.

Features

Turnbuckle built into the arm for fine rear toe adjustment
Pillow ball joint in place of the rubber bushing
Eliminates judder from the bushing area
Reduces unwanted alignment changes when the suspension is loaded
Wider alignment range for road and circuit setups

Applications

Honda Civic Type R: EK9 | 1997-2000 | 1.6L B16B

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
