Is a hub bearing included with the Front Hub Assembly for DC5 cars?

No. The Front Hub Assembly for DC5 cars is the hardened hub only. The manufacturer states that the old hub bearing cannot be reused once it is pressed out, so a new bearing must be bought separately for each hub. Order the bearings at the same time to avoid delays.

Is the price for one hub or a pair?

One. The listed price covers a single front hub assembly, so order two to do both front corners of the car. Most owners replace both at once, since the two hubs see similar loads and brake heat in sports driving.

Why do stock DC5 front hubs wear out?

On a high-output front-drive car, the front hubs carry the driving force as well as steering and braking loads, and they sit close to hot brakes. The manufacturer found that with high-grip tires in sports driving, the factory hubs lack strength and have a short service life.

What is induction hardening?

It is a heat treatment that hardens only selected areas of a steel part by heating them very quickly and then cooling them rapidly. The result is a hard, wear-resistant surface with higher fatigue strength. It is widely used on shafts because of its strength under twisting loads.

Can I install it at home?

Only with a press. The hub and a new bearing must be pressed into place, and every fastener torqued to the specified value. Most owners have a shop do the job. Check the bolts and nuts regularly afterward, and before every track session.

Description

J’s Racing Front Hub Assembly for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Front Hub Assembly for DC5 Integra Type R cars is a genuine front hub that the Osaka tuner induction hardens, a part born from its endurance racing program. On a powerful front-drive car running high-grip tires, the front hubs carry drive loads and brake heat constantly, and J’s Racing found the stock parts lacked strength and wore out fast. Hardening the right areas to the right depth raises strength sharply and prevents failures. It is for owners who drive hard on sticky tires; a lightly used street car will rarely stress a hub this way.

Development and Testing

J’s Racing chose which areas to harden, and how deep, from what it learned racing, and notes that induction hardening the entire hub does not improve durability. The process heats only the required areas for an instant and quenches them, raising wear resistance and fatigue strength, and it is favored on shaft parts for its torsional strength.

Features

Genuine front hub, induction hardened by J’s Racing
Hardened areas and depth set from endurance racing feedback
Higher wear resistance and fatigue strength
Built to handle drive loads and brake heat on high-grip tires
Suited to everything from street driving to circuit use

Applications

Acura RSX Type S: DC5 | 2002-2006 | 2.0L K20A2
Honda Integra Type R: DC5 | 2001-2006 | 2.0L K20A

Notes

The price is for one hub assembly
The original hub bearing cannot be reused, so a new bearing is required and sold separately
Fitting requires a press, and every fastener must be torqued to specification
Check the bolts and nuts regularly, and every time before circuit driving
J’s Racing Japan names the DC5 Integra Type R, and J’s Racing USA lists the hub on its Acura RSX sheet
Each hub comes from Japan through J’s Racing USA, and Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time when the order is placed

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
