Do seat rails come with the ZETA IV Bucket Seat?

No. The ZETA IV Bucket Seat mounts on a vehicle-specific BRIDE Super Seat Rail, sold separately, and the rail is the part that makes the seat fit a particular car. BRIDE builds fixed-bucket rails in the FO, FB, FK, FX, LF, XL and ZF series. Confirm the series for the chassis first, because the BRIDE matching list is built around cars sold in Japan.

Is the BRIDE ZETA IV FIA approved?

Yes. BRIDE lists the ZETA IV under the FIA 8855-1999 standard, which makes it eligible for international competition, and the approval covers every shell and color combination. FIA homologations expire, so check the current status against the active FIA list before entering a sanctioned event.

What shell materials are offered?

Two. A silver FRP shell built from glass fiber and aramid, and a super aramid black carbon shell. BRIDE reinforced both with high-performance material for a 15% gain in rigidity over the previous ZETA shell. Both weigh 7.4kg and both carry the same FIA approval.

What does the LOWMAX system do?

LOWMAX is a patented BRIDE design that lowers the hip point inside the shell. It produces a seating position where seat center lines up with steering center, something a conventional full bucket cannot always reach because it sits the driver too high. BRIDE brought the system into the ZETA line so the seat suits a wider range of vehicles.

Can the ZETA IV be used on the street?

Yes, within limits. BRIDE states that the ZETA IV conforms to the safety standards of the Japanese Road Transport Vehicle Act used for vehicle inspection. That is a Japanese statement rather than a claim about road rules elsewhere, so local requirements still apply. It is a fixed-back shell that does not recline.

Description

BRIDE ZETA IV Bucket Seat

The BRIDE ZETA IV Bucket Seat is the fourth generation of a full bucket line BRIDE has built since 1990, brought back after a sixteen-year gap in the series. Its shell adds high-performance material to the glass and aramid fibers BRIDE has long used, worth a 15% gain in rigidity over the outgoing shell, and the finished seat still weighs 7.4kg. The LOWMAX system sits the driver low enough that seat center lines up with steering center, and the shoulder line is held to 560mm so the shell clears tight door apertures and cage bars.

Construction

Two shells are offered. The silver FRP shell is glass fiber and aramid reinforced with additional high-performance material; the super aramid black carbon shell is the stiffer and costlier of the two. Seat and thigh cushions use newly molded urethane rather than cut foam, so the padding holds its shape through a long stint instead of packing down under the hip points. The cover is flame retardant fabric, with durable PVC leather where the driver slides in and out.

Design and Performance

The reshaped shell and the vertical slits in the back cushion let the headrest sit closer to the shoulders, which keeps a driver square over an hour of running rather than working against the bolsters. The cushion lifts the thighs as well, resisting the forward slide under hard braking or an impact that BRIDE names the submarine phenomenon. LOWMAX had been reserved for a handful of BRIDE full buckets and reclining models; bringing it into the ZETA line is what makes the low seating position workable in cars where a standard bucket sits the driver too high.

Features

LOWMAX geometry drops the hip point so seat center aligns with steering center
Vertical slits in the back cushion bring the headrest closer to the shoulders
Raised thigh cushion resists the forward slide under hard braking
Large belt openings sized for a competition harness
Takes the BRIDE K17-type seat back protector
Meets the Japanese Road Transport Vehicle Act safety standard used for shaken inspection
Lightweight shell, built by hand from components sourced in Japan

Shoulder Width: 560mm

Upholstery: Flame retardant fabric with PVC leather
Homologation: FIA 8855-1999

Applications

The ZETA IV Bucket Seat is not vehicle-specific. It mounts on any car BRIDE builds a fixed-bucket Super Seat Rail for, and the rail is the part that makes the fit vehicle-specific. The fixed-bucket series carried here are FO, FB, FK, FX, LF, XL and ZF. BRIDE builds its rail matching list around cars sold in Japan, so the series for a given chassis is worth confirming before the seat is ordered.

Notes

Sold individually. The price shown is for one seat, not a pair
Seat rails are not included and are required to fit this seat. Match the series to the chassis: BRIDE FO Super Seat Rail (TYPE-FO), FB (TYPE-FB), FK (TYPE-FK), FX (TYPE-FX), LF (TYPE-LF), XL (TYPE-XL) and ZF (TYPE-ZF). The full BRIDE Super Seat Rail range covers the remaining series.
FIA homologations carry expiry dates, so the approval is worth checking against the current FIA list before the seat is run in a sanctioned event
The Road Transport Vehicle Act compliance BRIDE states is a Japanese inspection standard, not a claim about road rules in the United States
This is a fixed-back shell and does not recline. For a street car that wants a seat that does, the BRIDE STRADIA III KING Reclining Bucket Seat is the better fit.
Other shells in the family: BRIDE ZETA IV KING Bucket Seat, BRIDE ZETA IV REIMS Bucket Seat and the rest of the BRIDE ZETA range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
