ADRO Prepreg Carbon Hood for Gen 1 and Gen 2 Toyota GR Yaris

Toyota GAZOO Racing did not build the GR Yaris to be ordinary, and ADRO did not treat it as ordinary either. The full carbon body kit was developed with CFD to work with the homologation car’s existing aerodynamic platform, and ADRO reports approximately 165 lbs (+734N) of additional downforce for the complete kit at minimal drag cost. The ADRO GR Yaris Prepreg Carbon Hood is the one part in the range that changes the car mechanically rather than only aerodynamically. It removes mass from the highest, most forward point on the chassis, which is the weight that hurts a car’s responsiveness most, and its vents let trapped engine bay heat escape instead of soaking into the intake and the bay. It fits both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars, and it is the only part in the range made from prepreg rather than wet carbon.

Weight Where It Counts, Heat Where It Does Not

A steel bonnet sits high and ahead of the front axle, so every kilogram removed there does more for turn-in and for how quickly the nose settles than the same kilogram taken from anywhere else on the car. The venting addresses a separate problem: the GR Yaris’s three-cylinder turbo makes real heat in a small bay, and on track that heat has nowhere to go. Increasing airflow through the hood gives it an exit, which helps both intake temperatures and the general thermal load on the engine bay during sustained driving.

Why Prepreg on This Part

Prepreg carbon fiber, also called dry carbon, has resin pre-impregnated into the weave at precise ratios and cured under controlled heat and pressure. That produces a part that is lighter, stronger and more dimensionally consistent than wet lay-up, with a refined surface finish. On a hood the weight argument is the whole point, and the reduced resin content is a meaningful part of the saving, but the dimensional consistency matters just as much: a bonnet has to close cleanly against its shut lines every time.
