Does the Valved Axle-Back Exhaust for F97 keep the factory valves working?

Yes. Active Autowerke designed the Valved Axle-Back Exhaust for F97 / F98 BMW X3 M / X4 M to reuse the actuators from the BMW valves, giving a low, deep sound under stock valve control. The valves continue to respond to the factory settings in the vehicle.

Will it fit both the X3 M and the X4 M?

Yes. Active Autowerke guarantees fit on all F97 X3 M and F98 X4 M models and test-fits every rear section on its in-house F97 / F98 fixture before shipping. Both vehicles use the S58 twin-turbo six and take this same rear exhaust.

Can I keep the factory mid-pipe?

Yes. Active Autowerke builds a version for owners replacing only the rear section, so tell us at order that the vehicle keeps its stock mid-pipe. If an Active or other mid-pipe goes on later, the connecting pipes may need replacing, and Active Autowerke may charge for them.

How much louder is it than the factory exhaust?

Noticeably deeper, but restrained. Active Autowerke describes the rear section on its own as a subtle upgrade and says the dramatic difference arrives once the mid-pipe is replaced. Its own complete X3 M and X4 M system combines this section with a single mid-pipe and GESI catted downpipes.

Which tip finishes are offered?

Brushed stainless, matte black, carbon fiber and carbon over black chrome. The two carbon finishes are priced above the stainless and black ones. Whichever finish is chosen, the exhaust itself is the same 304 stainless section built in the USA and supplied with its installation hardware.

Description

Active Autowerke Valved Axle-Back Exhaust for F97 / F98 BMW X3 M / X4 M

Active Autowerke’s Valved Axle-Back Exhaust for F97 / F98 BMW X3 M / X4 M exists because owners kept asking for it: these SUVs run the same S58 twin-turbo six as the current M3, yet the factory exhaust keeps it hushed. Active Autowerke builds the section in the USA from 304 stainless and test-fits each one on its own F97 / F98 fixture. The original BMW valve actuators move to the new rear section, so stock valve control still decides when it opens up. It suits an owner who wants a deeper note without changing the character of a daily vehicle; for the full transformation, Active Autowerke pairs it with the Signature Single Mid-Pipe and the GESI Catted Downpipes.

Features

USA-built 304 stainless steel rear section
Stock valve control retained through the BMW actuators
Deeper sound than the factory X3 M and X4 M rear section
Each unit test-fitted on Active Autowerke’s F97 / F98 exhaust fixture
Quad tips in four finishes
Supplied with all installation hardware

Applications

BMW X3 M: F97 | 2020-2024 | 3.0L S58
BMW X4 M: F98 | 2020-2025 | 3.0L S58

Notes

State at order whether the vehicle keeps its factory mid-pipe. Active Autowerke offers a version for that setup, and a later move to an Active or other mid-pipe may require replacement connecting pipes at extra charge.
The Valved Axle-Back Exhaust for F97 alone is the more subtle upgrade, Active Autowerke says; the larger change comes with the Single Mid-Pipe for F97 or Equal Length Mid-Pipe for F97, sold separately
The AFlow Catted Downpipes and GESI Catted Downpipes for the F97 / F98 complete the Active Autowerke system

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
