Why choose the GESI Catted Downpipes for F97 over the AFlow version?

Headroom. The GESI Catted Downpipes for F97 / F98 BMW X3 M / X4 M carry converters rated for 500 to 850 horsepower, aimed at an S58 being built well past stock. The AFlow version uses the same pipes with converters rated up to 800 horsepower, at a lower price and with a two-year replacement guarantee.

Does an X3 M need a tune after installing catted downpipes?

No. Active Autowerke sells this set as needing no performance tune, and the GESI catalysts keep the downstream oxygen sensors in range on factory software. Owners planning a tune or larger turbos are the ones who gain most from the GESI rating, because the converters are sized for that power.

Will GESI cats cause a check engine light on the S58?

No. Active Autowerke states that the GESI converters in this set will not trigger a catalyst efficiency fault. The 400 cell metallic substrate reaches operating efficiency within 9 seconds of startup, and the converters are EPA registered and OBD2 compliant, so the onboard monitors keep reporting normally.

How hard is it to install downpipes on an X4 M?

It is a bolt-on job with no cutting or welding. Each downpipe clamps to its turbo with a cast stainless V-band, a flex joint takes up engine rock, and the outlet meets the factory exhaust at stock 70mm diameter. A lift makes the work far more manageable than ramps or jack stands.

Will these downpipes fit a European X3 M?

Active Autowerke confirms fitment on US-model F97 and F98 vehicles only and cannot guarantee it on vehicles built for other markets. Owners with an imported or non-US specification vehicle should contact Bulletproof Automotive before ordering so the exhaust layout can be checked.

Description

Active Autowerke GESI Catted Downpipes for F97 / F98 BMW X3 M / X4 M

Active Autowerke’s GESI Catted Downpipes for F97 / F98 BMW X3 M / X4 M are built for the owner who sees the S58 in a performance SUV as a starting point. Each bank gets a 3 inch run of TIG welded 304 stainless and a 4.5 inch GESI G-Sport UHO-series converter rated for engines making 500 to 850 horsepower, so the catalysts keep pace with turbo, fuel and tuning upgrades that would outgrow a milder converter. On a vehicle that will stay close to factory specification, the AFlow Catted Downpipes share this pipework, cost less and add a two-year replacement guarantee.

Construction

The downpipes follow the shortest, least-bent path the F97 and F98 underbody permits, which is how Active Autowerke cuts the back pressure that slows an S58 turbo during spool. Cast stainless V-band flanges locate each pipe at its turbo, braided stainless flex sections isolate engine movement, and the outlets meet the factory exhaust at stock diameter.

Features

Pair of GESI G-Sport UHO-series high flow converters
EPA registered and OBD2 compliant
Full 304 stainless converter construction, substrate included, furnace brazed to the mantle
GESI proprietary precious metal loading for reduced emissions at high flow
Converters withstand 1500F and reach efficiency within 9 seconds of startup
TIG welded in Miami, Florida
Bolt-on installation with no cutting or welding

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
