Supersprint’s Rear Exhaust for E89 BMW Z4 is the right hand half of the twin 80mm rear for the N54, built in AISI 304 stainless and EEC homologated. The oO80 designation describes the outlet: two 80mm round tailpipes on this side, four across the back of the car once both halves are on, which is a good deal more presence than the factory rear gives an E89. The alternative in the Supersprint range is the O90 rear, a single 90mm outlet per side that needs no bodywork. This one does. Supersprint specifies centre pipes kit 982013 with it and the rear bumper has to be trimmed for the tailpipes to clear, so it is a rear half worth committing to rather than trying for a weekend.

Construction

Supersprint builds the muffler around a direct flow core rather than a baffled chamber, packed with stainless steel wool and basalt wool instead of fibreglass, which is the material choice that decides whether a muffler still sounds the same after years of heat cycling. The tailpipes are drawn from the same AISI 304 stock as the body.

Supersprint has built exhaust systems in Mantova, Italy since 1955, designing and manufacturing in house rather than assembling bought-in parts.
