Honda’s Turbo Civic is notably prone to heat-soak, especially when equipped with the standard factory intercooler. This vulnerability to heat-soak increases the risk of detonation and leads to significant power loss due to high charge air and cylinder temperatures, a problem that becomes more pronounced with aggressive driving or when the power output is increased. Addressing this issue, PRL Motorsports’ intercooler upgrade significantly lowers charge air temperatures and enhances potential airflow with its robust 28.35 x 4.3 x 7.25 inches, 600+ horsepower rated bar-and-plate core. The intercooler core offers a 31% increase in surface area and improved internal flow for optimal cooling and airflow. Featuring billet machined aluminum end tanks, the intercooler not only functions efficiently but also has a sleek appearance. It is designed to fit into the factory mounting locations using billet machined end tanks and integrates seamlessly with all original air ducts / shrouds. Additionally, PRL Motorsports has expanded the intercooler fins to fill the entire width of the front bumper’s opening, ensuring adequate cooling through the intercooler to the radiator.
