How much power does the VF ECU Software for 997.2 Carrera S add?

VF Engineering has not published a stock figure for the 997.2 Carrera S that matches the Porsche rating, so Bulletproof Automotive does not quote a gain for this ECU Software for 997.2 Carrera S, 4S and GTS models. The calibration works chiefly on throttle response.

Does the calibration fit the Carrera GTS?

Yes. VF Engineering lists one calibration for the 997.2 Carrera S, Carrera 4S and GTS, which share the 3.8 liter direct injection flat six. The 3.6 liter Carrera and Carrera 4 from the same generation take a separate VF calibration of their own.

How is the software installed?

VF supplies the calibration as an end-user programmable package written through the OBDII port, so a workshop visit is not required. VF Engineering states that the factory calibration can be restored from the same port at any time, with nothing physical changed on the car.

Does it work with PDK and manual cars?

The calibration works on the engine and VF Engineering lists it for the 997.2 Carrera S, 4S and GTS without restriction by gearbox. The six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK keeps its factory behavior while the flat six responds more sharply to the throttle.

Is the 997.2 software suitable for a car kept original?

Yes. Nothing physical is changed, and VF Engineering states that the factory calibration can be restored through the OBDII port at any time. That makes it well suited to owners who want to return the car to original form before a sale.

Description

VF Engineering Performance ECU Software for 997.2 Porsche 911 Carrera S, 4S and GTS

VF Engineering’s Performance ECU Software for 997.2 Porsche 911 Carrera S, 4S and GTS is written for the facelifted 997, the generation that brought Porsche’s first direct-injection 3.8-liter flat-six and the first PDK gearbox to the Carrera. The S, 4S and the later GTS share that engine, and VF’s calibration revises ignition, fueling and throttle mapping to make it answer the pedal sooner and pull more cleanly to the limiter. The 997.2 is now a well-loved modern classic, and a software change that touches nothing physical suits it well. It is aimed at the owner who drives the car regularly and wants a little more edge.

Features

Calibration for the 3.8-liter direct-injection flat-six
Revised ignition, fueling and throttle mapping
Quicker throttle response
End-user programmable through the OBDII port

About VF Engineering

VF Engineering designs supercharger and turbocharger systems, titanium exhausts and ECU and TCU calibrations from a 15,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim, Orange County, California, where it has been based for nearly two decades. Every calibration is developed in house on the company’s own Mustang AWD 500 chassis dyno, ECU boards are handled in a dedicated clean room, and new parts start in an R&D room equipped with a rapid prototyper. VF reports that more than 93 percent of its supercharger systems are still running after years of hard use, many on their second or third owner, and its engineers carry the testing discipline of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series into every road calibration.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
