The SOUL Performance Sport Cat Downpipe is engineered for the 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS and its T-Hybrid eTurbo powertrain. The factory downpipe is one of the most restrictive exhaust pieces SOUL has measured on a performance car making over 500 horsepower. By frees up the restrictive factory section and pairing an optimized high-flow catalytic converter with the eTurbo, this downpipe frees up the most restrictive section of the system, sharpening throttle response and unlocking a more engaging turbocharged character. SOUL’s R&D validated the design for clean operation with no check-engine lights and no need for an ECU tune or OBD device.

Modern Porsches are built to satisfy increasingly strict sound and emissions regulations that originated in Europe and have since carried over to the US market. On the GTS, that means over 500 hp is forced through what SOUL considers the most restrictive downpipe they have measured on any performance car.
The eTurbo in the T-Hybrid system works differently from a conventional turbocharger. Porsche runs a large exhaust diameter to support sustained performance and a consistent air-fuel mixture, but without electric assistance, those larger flow cross-sections would produce significant lag. The integrated electric motor closes that gap by spinning the turbo up almost instantly, keeping full boost pressure on tap and torque building immediately. Even with that potential for high exhaust flow, the gases are choked down by a large 8-inch factory restriction and a restrictive catalytic converter before they ever exit the system.
Removing the restrictive factory section and fitting an optimized catalytic converter delivers a meaningful jump in exhaust efficiency. The result is sharper response across the entire power band and a harder pull that is noticeable at all throttle positions. SOUL has recorded gains exceeding 50whp and 40ft-lbs of torque on the factory tune paired with their Performance Exhaust System, with the majority of those gains coming from the sport cat section itself.

Factory Integration

The SOUL Sport Cat Downpipe operates without check-engine lights and requires no ECU tune or OBD killer device. SOUL’s R&D team developed this downpipe on their own project GTS, tuning the flow characteristics to exceed factory throughput while still satisfying the ECU’s factory restriction metering system and scrubbing exhaust gases effectively.

Satisfying Sound

Replacing the downpipe has a more noticeable effect on exhaust character than swapping the factory valved system alone. With valves closed, volume increases subtly; with valves open, the difference is clear. Turbo sounds are significantly more present, and boost character comes through in a way the factory system suppresses. Drone stays minimal across all modes and valve positions, keeping long-distance cruising comfortable. Cold starts are only mildly louder, as the valves close immediately on startup.

Hand-Crafted Construction

The downpipe is built from mandrel-bent 0.065-inch T304L stainless steel tubing. The catalytic converter is a SOUL-designed 300-cell unit with a custom precious metal catalyst coating and triple metal matrix core. factory restriction metering provisions are engineered in to prevent check-engine lights. The inlet is 3D-printed in 316L stainless using next-generation metal printing technology for optimized flow into the converter. Welds are back-purged TIG with ARCAL Prime argon gas for full penetration and long-term durability. Brackets are water jet cut to ISO 9001:2015 standards at tolerances of plus or minus 0.003 inches. Thick-gauge aluminum fixtures are used during fabrication to act as a heat sink and prevent warpage.
