How much power does the VF ECU Software for 997.1 Carrera S add?

VF Engineering quotes 375 hp and 320 lb-ft from its ECU Software for 997.1 Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S models, gains of 25 hp and 25 lb-ft over the factory 350 hp and 295 lb-ft of the 3.8 liter flat six.

Does the software fit the Carrera 4S?

Yes. VF Engineering lists one calibration for the 997.1 Carrera S and Carrera 4S, which share the 3.8 liter flat six. The 3.6 liter Carrera and Carrera 4 from the same generation take a separate VF calibration, sold as its own listing on Bulletproof Automotive.

How is the software installed?

VF supplies the calibration as an end-user programmable package written through the OBDII port, so a workshop visit is not required. VF Engineering states that the factory calibration can be restored from the same port at any time, which suits a car being kept original.

Does the calibration work with Tiptronic cars?

The calibration works on the engine and VF Engineering lists it for the 997.1 Carrera S and 4S without restriction by gearbox. The six-speed manual or the Tiptronic automatic keeps its factory behavior, and the engine responds more sharply to the throttle.

Does this software fit the 997.2 Carrera S?

No. The 997.2 introduced a new direct injection 3.8 liter engine, and VF Engineering sells a separate calibration for those cars. This listing applies only to the 997.1 Carrera S and Carrera 4S built from 2004 to 2008 with the earlier engine.

Description

VF Engineering Performance ECU Software for 997.1 Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S

VF Engineering’s Performance ECU Software for 997.1 Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S is written for the first 997, the car that brought back round headlamps and gave the Carrera S a 3.8-liter flat-six. VF quotes 375 hp and 320 lb-ft with the calibration installed, gains of 25 hp and 25 lb-ft over the factory 350 hp and 295 lb-ft. These cars are increasingly kept as analog driver’s 911s, with hydraulic steering and a choice of six-speed manual or Tiptronic, and the calibration suits that role: it sharpens throttle response and adds torque through the middle of the range without touching the hardware. It is a natural update for an owner who drives a 997.1 S for pleasure.

About VF Engineering

VF Engineering designs supercharger and turbocharger systems, titanium exhausts and ECU and TCU calibrations from a 15,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim, Orange County, California, where it has been based for nearly two decades. Every calibration is developed in house on the company’s own Mustang AWD 500 chassis dyno, ECU boards are handled in a dedicated clean room, and new parts start in an R&D room equipped with a rapid prototyper. VF reports that more than 93 percent of its supercharger systems are still running after years of hard use, many on their second or third owner, and its engineers carry the testing discipline of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series into every road calibration.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
