Are springs included, and can I pick the rates?

Yes to both. TEIN supplies four springs at rates chosen when ordering: 16, 18 or 20 kgf/mm at the front and 18, 20 or 22 kgf/mm at the rear. Its reference set is 18.0 front and 20.0 rear, and BA confirms the choice before the order is placed.

Do the TEIN Mono Racing Coilovers for AP1 also fit the AP2?

Yes. TEIN lists the Mono Racing Coilovers for AP1 for the 2000 to 2003 AP1 with the 2.0 liter engine and the 2004 to 2009 AP2 with the 2.2 liter engine. One part number covers both generations, with the same spring rate choices.

How low will the S2000 sit?

TEIN recommends running the car 0.6 to 1.4 inches below stock at both ends. The bodies allow far more, down to 5.2 inches lower at the front and 4.1 inches at the rear, but TEIN publishes the narrower range as its recommendation for this car.

Should I choose Mono Racing or Mono Sport for my S2000?

Choose Mono Racing if the car does regular track days, since TEIN derived its rates and damping from Super Racing settings and motorsport data, and you pick the springs. Mono Sport arrives as a complete kit with TEIN springs and is the better fit for a mostly road-driven car.

Can damping be changed from the cockpit?

No, not as supplied. Damping is set with a 16-level knob on top of each damper. The kit is EDFC compatible, so an optional TEIN controller can replace the knobs with stepping motors, and EDFC ACTIVE or ACTIVE PRO add automatic changes based on G-force and speed.

Description

TEIN Mono Racing Coilovers for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

TEIN’s Mono Racing Coilovers for AP1 and AP2 Honda S2000 cover every model year from 2000 to 2009 and come with springs in rates the buyer chooses, from 16 to 20 kgf/mm at the front and 18 to 22 at the rear. Those figures put the kit firmly in circuit territory. An S2000 kept for weekend road drives is better served by a softer TEIN kit.

How It Changes the S2000

TEIN’s setting targets body roll first, then suppresses sudden rear behaviour at the limit, giving the driver more control on corner exit. Feedback stays clear, so the surface under the front tyres is easy to read. Reinforced rubber upper mounts at each corner keep a measure of isolation in a car already running high spring rates.

Features

Mono-tube dampers with separated oil and gas for linear damping lap after lap
Settings derived from TEIN Super Racing dampers and its motorsport data
ADVANCE M.S.V. valving pairs a micro speed valve with an ADVANCE Needle
Top-mounted knob gives 16 levels, compression and rebound changing together
Full-length bodies alter height by case length, not spring preload
EDFC compatible, including EDFC ACTIVE for automatic changes by G-force and speed

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
