Does the lip fit the 4-door DB8 as well as the 3-door?

Yes. Spoon sells one part number, 71110-DCR-010, for the DC2 and DB8 Integra Type R, and registers it for the pre-1998 and 1998-on cars of both bodies. On each one the factory front lower skirt is removed and the carbon piece is mounted in its place.

Does the lip need to be painted?

No. The carbon fiber is the finish and is meant to be seen. Spoon does advise a UV-protective clear coat, because ultraviolet light can discolor carbon over the years. Test-fit the lip before it is cleared, then let the clear air dry, since heat from a booth or a lamp can warp the part.

How is the Carbon Lip Spoiler for DC2 installed?

The Carbon Lip Spoiler for DC2 replaces the factory front lower skirt, so that panel comes off first and the Spoon lip is mounted where it was. Spoon publishes no further steps. A body shop that knows the Integra is the right place for the job, particularly if the lip is being clear coated beforehand.

Will it fit a US Acura Integra?

Yes. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, sells this lip for 1994 through 2001 Integra DC2 models, the Type R included. Spoon itself registers the JDM Type R, and the lip mounts where the factory lower skirt sits, so a car wearing an aftermarket front bumper should be checked before ordering.

How close to the ground does the lip sit?

Spoon publishes no height figure for this lip, so BA does not quote how much lower the nose ends up. Any front lip sits in the path of steep driveway entries and parking blocks, and on a lowered Integra the sensible habit is to take both at an angle and slowly.

Description

Spoon Sports Carbon Lip Spoiler for DC2 / DB8 Honda Integra Type R

The Spoon Sports Carbon Lip Spoiler for DC2 and DB8 Integra Type R swaps the factory front lower skirt for a carbon fiber piece. Spoon chose carbon for the reasons racing teams use it throughout their cars: it is strong for its weight, and its woven surface has a depth that painted plastic cannot copy. Spoon registers the lip for every JDM Type R from the October 1995 launch through July 2001, on both the 3-door DC2 and the 4-door DB8, covering the original cars and the 1998-specification update alike, and lists it at 5 kg. The fitting principle is simple: the standard lower skirt is removed and the Spoon lip takes its place. This is a part for an owner building or restoring a period Spoon Integra, where the carbon finish is the whole point. Anyone shopping for published downforce figures will not find them, because Spoon does not quote any for this lip.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
