Is the Venturi Throttle Body for FK8 the same part for the FL5?

Yes. Spoon registers one venturi throttle body for FK8 and FL5 cars because both use the K20C turbo with the same throttle dimensions. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, sells it for 2017 to 2024 model year US cars, so owners of either generation order this SKU.

Will a tuned Type R gain more from it?

Generally yes. On a car running more boost through a flash tune, the engine asks for more air than the factory calibration does, and the wider inlet and butterfly give it room. The tuner should update the throttle and airflow tables to suit, which also lets the response gain show fully.

Does the car need any modification?

No. Spoon builds the part from the factory throttle body, so it fits the original intake pipe, manifold and wiring without cutting. Swapping it is a straightforward bolt-on job for an owner with hand tools, and most will finish within an hour or so, including a short test drive.

How do the dimensions compare with stock?

The inlet goes from 62.5 mm to 65.0 mm and the butterfly from 60.0 mm to 62.0 mm. Spoon puts the resulting increases in flow area at 8.2 percent for the inlet and 6.8 percent for the butterfly, modest numbers that reflect how well Honda sized the original.

Will it trigger a warning light?

Spoon does not address warning lights in its notes and lists no calibration requirement, and the part retains the factory body and connector. As with any throttle change, clearing adaptations and letting the engine computer relearn idle over a few drives is sensible. If a light appears, have a Honda specialist read the code before driving hard.

Description

Spoon Sports Venturi Throttle Body for FK8 / FL5 Honda Civic Type R

The Spoon Sports Venturi Throttle Body for FK8 and FL5 Honda Civic Type R applies Spoon’s naturally aspirated tuning experience to the 2.0-litre K20C turbo, on the principle that more air through less resistance is the most efficient way to raise output. Spoon takes the factory throttle body and enlarges the inlet from 62.5 mm to 65.0 mm and the butterfly from 60.0 mm to 62.0 mm, increases in flow area of 8.2 and 6.8 percent. Inside, the surface is refined so intake air moves faster, which Spoon links to quicker response. Honda gave the K20C an excellent intake layout, so Spoon kept the factory body as the base and the part needs no modification to the car. It pays off on a tuned Type R with more boost; an owner running the factory calibration will feel a sharper pedal rather than a step in power.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
