Can the Non-Asbestos Clutch Disc for FK7 be used with the factory clutch cover?

No. Spoon specifies the Non-Asbestos Clutch Disc for FK7 as a pair with its own clutch cover, part 22300-FK7-001, and states that the factory cover cannot be used. Go Tuning describes the disc as compatible with the stock cover, yet Spoon Japan is the maker and BA follows its pairing rule, so plan to order both parts.

Does it keep the dual-mass flywheel?

Yes. Spoon designed the clutch around the factory dual-mass flywheel, so the vibration damping Honda built into the FK7 and FL1 driveline is kept. That is one reason the setup stays comfortable for street use, and it avoids the cost of a flywheel conversion during the clutch job.

How much heavier is the clutch pedal?

Spoon quotes pedal effort about 10 percent higher than stock with its disc and cover fitted. That is a small enough change for daily driving, and it comes with a cover whose clamp force Spoon rates at 7,300 N, around 30 percent above the factory part.

Do I need a tune to benefit from the clutch?

No, but a tune is where it earns its place. The factory clutch copes with stock output, and Spoon developed this disc because torque rose about 50 percent with a FlashPro calibration on its test car. An untuned car gains durability margin and little else, so the disc suits owners who are tuning now or plan to soon.

Will it fit the 11th generation Civic hatchback?

Yes. Spoon registers the disc for the FL1 hatchback with the six-speed manual as well as the FK7, and both cars use the 1.5 liter turbocharged engine. CVT models are not covered, since the part belongs to a manual clutch assembly.

Description

Spoon Sports Non-Asbestos Clutch Disc for FK7 / FL1 Honda Civic

The Spoon Sports Non-Asbestos Clutch Disc for FK7 and FL1 Civic hatchback came out of a goal Spoon set when the tenth-generation hatchback launched: to make the 1.5-liter turbo car outperform the FK8 Type R through complete tuning. The engine responded. With a Hondata FlashPro calibration, Spoon measured 250 PS and 38 kgf-m against the stock 182 PS and 24.5 kgf-m, a torque rise of about 50 percent that the factory clutch could not hold. Spoon answered with a disc faced in high-strength fiber material for the heat resistance and strength that motorsport demands, engineered to work with its own clutch cover. The factory dual-mass flywheel stays, so the refinement Honda built in is kept, and pedal effort rises only about 10 percent. This is a clutch for a tuned six-speed hatchback; on an untuned car, the factory clutch has enough capacity.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
