How does the Rear Wing for McLaren 720S relate to the factory active wing and air brake?

Bulletproof Automotive confirms fitment details with RYFT before ordering, since RYFT describes the part as a Long Tail rear wing for McLaren 720S cars and does not set out how it works with the active wing mechanism. The factory wing rises, changes angle and acts as an air brake, so how the two relate should be settled first.

Is the RYFT wing related to the McLaren 765LT?

No. The RYFT Long Tail wing is its own design for the 720S, built by RYFT rather than McLaren. The name echoes the McLaren Longtail cars, and the 765LT did fit a larger active wing than the 720S, but RYFT does not describe this part as a copy of any factory 765LT component.

Which 720S body styles is the RYFT Long Tail wing listed for?

RYFT sells one version of the wing for McLaren 720S cars, and it only offers separate Coupe and Spider parts where the bodies differ, such as the fenders, bridge vents and engine cover pieces. The 720S Spider also uses a full width active rear spoiler, which McLaren matched with new underfloor aerodynamics when it launched the open car.

Which RYFT parts complete the rear of the car with this wing?

The rear diffuser and the rear bumper shell with side vents are the two largest RYFT pieces at the back, and the exhaust surround frames the twin tailpipes beneath the wing. Together with the Rear Wing for McLaren 720S they give the rear view the full RYFT treatment, all in the same two by two twill weave.

How should a carbon rear wing be looked after?

A rear wing sits in clean air and full sun, so UV protection matters more here than on lower parts. Wash it by hand with a pH neutral shampoo, dry it with a soft microfiber towel, and keep a UV stable ceramic coating or paint protection film on the upper surface. Avoid automatic car washes with brushes on any carbon part.

Description

RYFT Carbon Fiber Long Tail Rear Wing for McLaren 720S

The RYFT rear wing for McLaren 720S cars carries a name with real weight at Woking: McLaren calls its lighter, track focused cars Longtails, from the 1997 F1 GTR Longtail to the 675LT and the 765LT. On the 720S the factory wing is built into the rear deck, rising at speed, changing its angle and acting as an air brake under hard braking. RYFT’s Long Tail piece gives that rear deck a longer, more aggressive outline in 2×2 twill, and it is the single part that changes the rear view most.

Development

The P1 that RYFT names as its reference had an active rear wing that extended by 120 mm on the road and by 300 mm in Race mode, and the 765LT later moved the 720S closer to that idea with an active wing 20 percent larger in area and 60 mm higher than the 720S item. RYFT works in the same spirit for owners who keep their 720S rather than trade up, and it calls the part a Long Tail wing rather than a spoiler, which tells you the visual target.

Features

Long Tail profile in 2×2 twill carbon fiber
Name drawn from McLaren Longtail vocabulary, from the F1 GTR to the 765LT
Shaped with the P1 hypercar cues RYFT names for its 720S program
Designed for the integrated active rear wing area of the P14 rear deck

Applications

McLaren 720S: P14 | 2018-2023 | 4.0L M840T twin-turbo V8

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
