Do the Type-S Side Skirts for ZF1 cars come painted?

No. The Type-S Side Skirts for ZF1 cars ship in unpainted black gelcoat, and paint is required before installation. The photos show painted examples. Each skirt also needs fitting to the individual car, so plan on a body shop handling the trial fit, the paint and the final installation.

Yes. One order includes both the left and the right side skirt, so a single purchase covers the whole car. The pair is built to order in Japan, and both sides arrive in the same black gelcoat finish ready for the body shop to fit and paint together for an even color match.

Do I need the front wing spoiler too?

No, but it is recommended. The side skirts were designed to match the Type-S front wing spoiler, and the manufacturer suggests fitting them together. The rear diffuser and the full Total Aero System complete the Type-S look for the CR-Z if you want the whole set.

Can I still jack up the car?

Yes. The underside of each skirt is flat, and openings are built in at the jack points so the car can still be lifted at its usual locations. Check the position of the jack the first few times so it meets the body through the opening rather than resting on the skirt.

What material are they made of?

They are FRP with a black gelcoat surface. The gelcoat is a base coat for paint rather than a finished color, so the skirts are meant to be painted to match the car. No weight figures are published for the pair, so a weight comparison with the stock parts cannot be given.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Side Skirts for ZF1 Honda CR-Z

J’s Racing’s Type-S Side Skirts for ZF1 CR-Z owners belong to the Osaka tuner’s Type-S Total Aero System, a pair of FRP skirts drawn around two character lines. Those lines are functional as well as visual: J’s Racing shaped them to straighten the air running along the sides toward the rear of the car. The skirts were styled to match the Type-S front wing spoiler, and J’s Racing recommends fitting the two together. A flat underside keeps the profile clean, and openings at the jack points mean the car can still be lifted where it should be. They suit a CR-Z owner working toward the full Type-S kit; on a car keeping its stock front end, part of the matched look is lost.

Tips

Plan for a body shop: J’s Racing calls for each skirt to be fitted to the individual car, and the black gelcoat surface is a base for paint rather than a finish. Doing the trial fit before paint avoids refinishing afterwards. The product photos show painted parts, so expect black gelcoat on arrival.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
