Is paint or a diffuser included?

No. The bumper arrives unpainted, with the FRP version in black gelcoat, so it needs body shop paint to match the car. A rear diffuser, rear wing and canards are separate products. The package contains the rear bumper assembly and its side fins only.

What does the parachute effect mean for the Type-S Rear Bumper for AP1 cars?

A factory bumper can trap air inside it, and that pocket acts like a small parachute that adds drag. The Type-S Rear Bumper for AP1 and AP2 cars uses ducts to release the air, which the manufacturer says lowers drag and significantly raises top speed. No test figures are published.

What do the side fins add?

The side fins straighten the turbulent air that runs along the sides of the car as it reaches the rear bumper. Organizing that flow is how the manufacturer says the bumper increases rear downforce. The fins come with the bumper, in carbon FRP or FRP depending on the option.

Should I pick the carbon or FRP option?

Pick carbon if you want exposed carbon FRP side fins as a contrast detail against the painted bumper. Pick FRP if you would rather paint everything in body color, since the FRP option is black gelcoat throughout. The FRP version is the one named as a Super Taikyu designated part.

Can I run this bumper with the factory front bumper?

It will mount to an AP1 or AP2 S2000 by itself, as it is listed for both chassis. Visually and aerodynamically it was developed as part of the Type-S aero system, so it is designed to sit alongside the Type-S front bumper and side steps for a matched look and balance.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Rear Bumper for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s Type-S Rear Bumper for AP1 and AP2 S2000s tackles a problem most factory bumpers ignore: air that piles up inside the bumper and acts like a parachute. Ducts let that air out, which J’s says lowers drag and noticeably raises top speed. Shaped side fins then straighten the turbulent air along the flanks and add rear downforce. The FRP version is a Super Taikyu designated part, so the shape has raced. It makes the most sense on a car that already wears the Type-S front bumper and side steps; with a stock nose it gives up the matched front to rear look.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
