Which Civic models are the Rear Upper Arms for EF9 meant for?

They are designed for the Japanese-market EF9 Civic SiR, built from 1989 to 1991 with the 1.6L B16A engine. The manufacturer does not list US-market EF Civic models, so fitment there is unconfirmed. Send us your chassis details before ordering if your car is not a JDM EF9.

Why adjust rear camber on a front-drive Civic?

The manufacturer opens its description by calling rear camber adjustment the basis of setting up a front-drive car. Being able to change it lets you tune rear grip and overall balance to suit your front setup and ride height, rather than living with the camber the stock arms produce.

Does the set include both sides?

Yes. One left arm and one right arm are supplied together. The Rear Upper Arms for EF9 do not include alignment, labor or any other suspension parts, so budget for a full alignment at installation and consider the matching adjustable compensator arm if you also want finer control of rear toe.

What material are the arms?

The arm bodies are 2017S aluminum alloy, which the manufacturer chose to help reduce weight, joined to a pillow ball end and a turnbuckle adjuster. No weight figure is published for the pair, so we cannot quote a saving in grams, only that the aluminum was selected with lightness in mind.

How involved is installation?

These arms take the place of the factory rear upper arms, so they suit a shop or an experienced home mechanic with a torque wrench and access to an alignment rack. The manufacturer asks that every fastener be tightened to the specified torque and rechecked regularly afterward, particularly before each session on a circuit.

Description

J’s Racing Rear Upper Arms for EF9 Honda Civic

J’s Racing’s Rear Upper Arms for EF9 Civic SiR builds give you direct control of rear camber, the setting J’s Racing calls the foundation of front-drive chassis tuning. Each arm combines a turnbuckle body with a pillow ball end, so its length can be set to whatever the alignment calls for, and the 2017S aluminum construction trims weight at the same time. Founded in Osaka and focused on Hondas since 1989, J’s Racing describes these as essential parts for sports driving. They make the most sense on a lowered EF9 that runs track days or time attack; a stock-height street Civic gets little from the extra range.

Tips

Plan the install around an alignment appointment, because the manufacturer requires one after fitting and the turnbuckles are adjusted during it. Torque everything to the specified values. Since rear camber on the EF9 now becomes a setting, record the figures the shop leaves you with so you can return to a known baseline after experimenting at the circuit. Then get into the habit of checking bolt and nut tightness regularly and every time before circuit driving.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
