What comes in the Final Gear Set for CL7 cars?

The Final Gear Set for CL7 cars contains one countershaft and one ring gear, treated according to the coating option you choose. Installation is not included. The manufacturer recommends precision assembly by a professional shop, with every bolt torqued to the specified value.

Which ratio should I choose?

The stock final drive is 4.764. The 5.1 option is an actual 5.062, a moderate step that sharpens acceleration while keeping usable top speed. The 5.3 option is shorter still for tighter circuits. Ask us for the exact 5.3 figure and we can talk through which suits your tracks.

What is the difference between the DLC and WPC options?

Both sets use WPC shot peening for surface hardness, fatigue strength and oil retention. The DLC and WPC option also gives the driven gear a Diamond-Like Carbon coating, which reduces friction for better initial bedding-in, lower heat and longer life. It suits cars that see frequent circuit sessions on sticky tires.

Will I lose top speed?

Yes, somewhat. Shortening the final drive lowers every gear, so the car reaches the rev limit sooner in top gear. In exchange it accelerates harder and the gaps between gears shrink, a trade that pays off on twisty circuits and in time attack sessions.

Can I install the gears at home?

Only if you are equipped to rebuild a transmission. The gears sit inside the gearbox and must be assembled precisely, with correct torque on every fastener. The manufacturer recommends a professional shop, and we agree that a transmission specialist is the right choice.

Description

J’s Racing Final Gear Set for CL7 Honda Accord Euro R

J’s Racing’s Final Gear Set for CL7 Accord Euro R gearboxes shortens every gear at once. Swapping the factory 4.764 final drive for the 5.1 set, a true 5.062 ratio, leaves peak torque unchanged but shifts the torque curve smoothly toward lower revs, trading a little top speed for stronger acceleration and tighter steps between gears. On a VTEC car that can mean holding third through a corner instead of dropping to second, or finally using all six gears on a short circuit. It is a circuit, endurance and time attack upgrade; a car that lives on the highway will feel the shorter gearing at cruise.

Construction

Two surface treatments are offered. WPC, short for Wide Peening and Cleaning, fires fine shot at high speed to harden and refine the gear surface, raising fatigue strength to resist chipped teeth and leaving tiny dimples that hold oil. The DLC and WPC option adds a Diamond-Like Carbon coating on the driven gear, cutting friction for better initial bedding-in and durability.

Features

Lower overall gearing for stronger acceleration
Closer steps between gears with peak torque unchanged
WPC-treated surfaces for higher fatigue strength and less wear
Optional DLC coating on the driven gear to cut friction
Lower oil temperature reduces the risk of final-drive failure
Choice of 5.1 or 5.3 ratio

What’s Included

Countershaft (x1)
Ring gear (x1)

Applications

Honda Accord Euro R: CL7 | 2002-2008 | 2.0L K20A

Notes

Options: the DLC and WPC set pairs a DLC-coated driven gear with a WPC-treated ring gear, while the WPC set uses WPC treatment only; 5.3 is the shorter of the two ratios
Precision assembly by a professional shop is recommended, with every fastener torqued to the factory specification
The price list places this set under the TSX, but J’s lists it for the CL7 Accord Euro R; Acura TSX fitment is unconfirmed and must be checked with J’s Racing USA first
Also available: the 1.5-Way LSD for the CL7 Honda Accord Euro R
J’s Racing USA brings each set in from Japan, so Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time once the order is in

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
