Do the canards bolt on without modification?

No. The front bumper must be drilled to mount them, and depending on where and at what angle they sit, the inner edge on the body side may need to be trimmed or cut to follow the bumper. Stainless steel bolts and nuts are included, so the remaining work is marking, drilling and test fitting.

Which cars do the Carbon Canards for EP3 fit?

The Carbon Canards for EP3 are designed for the JDM EP3 Civic Type R with the K20A engine, built from 2001 to 2005. They may not fit the US-market EP3 Civic Si, so confirm your car with Bulletproof Automotive before ordering, particularly if the front bumper is not the original.

Why pair canards with a GT wing?

A GT wing adds downforce at the rear, which can leave the front of a front-drive car short of grip by comparison. The manufacturer says canards are especially necessary on wing-equipped cars to restore front traction, and on any front-drive car extra front grip helps cornering speed.

What are the canards made of?

The canard blades are CFRP, a carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and the stays that hold them are aluminum plate. The manufacturer describes the construction as extremely light yet strong enough to withstand intense downforce. Dedicated stainless steel bolts and nuts are supplied for mounting.

What difference will the canards make?

The manufacturer says the canards raise front traction and dramatically improve cornering speed, which matters most on a front-drive car where the front tires do the steering and the driving. No downforce figures are published, so the effect depends on setup, speed and the rest of the aero package.

Description

J’s Racing Carbon Canards for EP3 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Carbon Canards for EP3 Civic Type R put downforce where a front-drive car needs it, over the wheels that both steer and drive. The Osaka tuner says canards are especially necessary on a car already running a GT wing, to bring front traction back into balance with the added rear downforce, and credits them with a dramatic gain in cornering speed. The blades are CFRP and the stays aluminum plate, a very light combination built to take heavy aero loads. They suit a track-focused EP3, ideally one with rear aero; fitting means drilling the bumper.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
