Which DC5 models do the Black Series Coilovers for DC5 cars fit?

The manufacturer lists the Black Series Coilovers for DC5 cars for the Integra Type R, and its US distributor files them under the Acura RSX for Type S and Type R. A separate kit is catalogued for the Japanese-market Integra iS and Type S, so confirm your car with Bulletproof Automotive first.

How low can the car go?

The manufacturer recommends lowering of about 25 to 45mm compared with stock. Within that range the revised bracket keeps the tie rod angle correct with the factory tie rods. Going beyond the recommended range is possible on a full-length adjustable body, but the tie rod claim no longer applies.

Are the springs too stiff for street driving?

They are firmer than a typical street coilover by design. The manufacturer calls the Black Series Coilovers for DC5 cars a high-spec street damper with an emphasis on sports driving. The 15-step damping adjustment lets you soften the ride for the road and firm it up for the circuit.

Can the dampers be rebuilt?

Yes. The manufacturer states that every version of the Black Series Damper RS can be overhauled, and replacement damper cartridges are offered individually for the front and rear, so worn dampers do not mean replacing the whole kit. Plan a rebuild based on how hard the car is used.

Will I need any other parts to install them?

Usually not. The kit includes the front camber-adjustable pillow upper mounts and both adjustment wrenches, and the stock tie rods can stay. On a car with high-caster lower arms, the front upper mounts must be swapped from side to side.

Description

J’s Racing Black Series Coilovers for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Black Series Coilovers for DC5 Integra Type R owners are the first coilover kit the Osaka tuner designed entirely in-house, catalogued as the Black Series Damper RS and developed from more than 20 years of racing. Spring rates of 12 kg/mm front and 14 kg/mm rear are higher than a typical street kit, so the car sits lower with a front-to-rear balance chosen for cornering, and 15 damping steps let you tune for each event. It suits a driver who does real sports driving; a gentle commuter will find the rates firmer than needed.

Design and Performance

The full-length adjustable bodies use a shortened case and stroke, so the car can be lowered without giving up bump travel. Dampers are monotube, with a large-diameter inverted cylinder where a strut needs extra rigidity.

Features

Full-length adjustable design that keeps bump stroke when lowered
Monotube dampers with 15-step damping adjustment
Front pillow-ball upper mounts with camber adjustment
Revised bracket position for the stock tie rods
Ride height and damping wrenches supplied

Specifications

Notes

On cars with high-caster lower arms, the front upper mounts must be swapped left to right

Check every bolt and nut regularly after installation, and before each circuit session
J’s Racing Japan specifies this kit for the DC5 Integra Type R; the separate RS Damper Kit for the DC5 Integra iS and Type S covers those models
J’s Racing USA lists the kit under the Acura RSX and names it for both Type S and Type R
Shipped from Japan via J’s Racing USA; Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time when you order

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
