Is the RS Damper Kit for DC5 cars the right kit for a Type R?

No. The RS Damper Kit for DC5 cars is the version the manufacturer builds for the Integra iS and Type S. Type R owners need the Type R Black Series kit, which shares the spring rates and features but is specified for that model. If you are unsure which your car is, ask Bulletproof Automotive.

What spring rates does it use?

The front springs are 12 kg/mm and the rears 14 kg/mm, both 150mm long with a 65mm inner diameter. The manufacturer chose rates above those of a typical street coilover so the car can run lower, with a balance set up for cornering.

How is ride height adjusted?

The kit uses a full-length adjustable design, so ride height is set by threading the damper body rather than compressing the spring, and the shortened case keeps bump travel intact. The manufacturer recommends a drop of roughly 25 to 45mm from stock. A ride height wrench is included.

Can I adjust front camber?

Yes. The RS Damper Kit for DC5 cars includes pillow-ball front upper mounts with camber adjustment of up to about 3.5 degrees, useful for tuning front grip on a lowered front-drive car. Have the car aligned once ride height and camber are set.

What maintenance does it need?

Check the bolts and nuts at regular intervals and before every circuit session, as the manufacturer instructs. When the dampers wear, they can be overhauled, and replacement cartridges are available for the front and rear. Turn the damping dial gently, since too much force can damage the shaft.

Description

J’s Racing RS Damper Kit for DC5 Honda Integra iS / Type S and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s RS Damper Kit for DC5 Integra iS and Type S cars brings the Black Series Damper RS, the Osaka company’s first fully original coilover, to the non-Type R models. Two decades of racing went into a kit that leans toward sports driving: 12 kg/mm front and 14 kg/mm rear springs allow a lower stance with a cornering-biased balance, and 15 damping steps cover changing tracks and weather. Owners who want a soft ride above all should look at a comfort-oriented kit instead.

Design and Performance

Ride height is set with a full-length adjustable body whose shortened case and stroke preserve bump travel as the car comes down, and a relocated bracket keeps the factory tie rods at a sound angle within the recommended drop.

Black Series monotube dampers with 15 damping positions
Shortened full-length adjustable bodies to preserve bump travel
Camber-adjustable pillow-ball front uppers included
Works with the factory tie rods inside the recommended drop
Overhaulable, with front and rear replacement cartridges offered

Notes

J’s Racing Japan builds this kit only for the DC5 Integra iS and Type S; Type R owners need the Black Series Coilovers for the DC5 Integra Type R
J’s Racing USA prices this kit on its Acura RSX list as the Type S version
If high-caster lower arms are installed, swap the front upper mounts between sides
Use the supplied damping wrench with care; overtightening the dial can break the damper shaft
Re-torque the bolts and nuts at regular intervals and before every track day
Bulletproof Automotive orders it from Japan through J’s Racing USA and confirms the lead time after purchase

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
