HPS’s Cold Air Intake Kit for S197 Ford Mustang 3.7L V6 brings part number 827-561 to the 2011-2014 V6 Mustang, coupe or convertible, in a red finish. The restrictive factory air box comes out, and a 3-1/2 inch mandrel-bent aluminum tube and washable HPS filter go in behind a powder coated steel heat shield. HPS lists gains of 14 whp and 12 lb-ft, enough to sharpen the V6 without asking for a tune.

Design and Performance

Fourteen horsepower at the wheels is a modest figure, and HPS tuned the kit for the top end, so it rewards drivers who use the full rev range of the 3.7L. On this shortram layout the steel shield does the cooling work, keeping engine bay heat off the filter rather than moving the filter outside the engine compartment. For an otherwise stock V6 coupe or convertible it is a sensible first modification, since HPS states that no tune or modification is needed.
