EBC Brakes’ RedStuff is a premium NAO (non-asbestos organic) ceramic-granule-enhanced brake pad, designed for modern vehicles including hatchbacks, sedans, muscle cars, and now, trucks and SUVs under the 2022 ED Plus range. These ceramic pads are non-metallic, non-magnetic, and free from steel fibers, which are a common cause of brake dust and rotor wear. RedStuff pads meet rigorous ecological standards, containing no lead, nickel, copper, antimony sulfides, or asbestos, as indicated by their NAO classification. They carry the prestigious “leaf mark” with the highest N rating, ensuring superior environmental safety.
RedStuff is EBC’s premium low-dust option for fast street driving, suitable for cars, trucks, and SUVs under the ED range. The pads utilize aramid fiber ceramic particles instead of ceramic fibers, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Free from sulfides and lead, these pads are ECE R90 brake safety tested and approved. While some dust is inevitable, EBC pads eliminate the etching effect caused by steel fibers, instead using easy-to-clean aramid fibers like Twaron and Kevlar. RedStuff pads offer long wear and require a 500-kilometer bed-in period for full performance, aided by EBC’s proprietary brake-in surface coating for accelerated break-in. Tested by the UK Motor Industries Research Association (MIRA), RedStuff has demonstrated a 30% improvement in braking, reducing stopping distances by up to 50ft from 100mph.
Backplates & NRS Hooks
- EBC Brakes employs the NRS (nucap retention system), a proprietary bonding technology licensed from Nucap Industries. This system integrates bi-directional crescent-shaped projections into the pad’s backing plate for enhanced shear strength, increasing the pad-to-plate bond by up to six times. At EBC’s Northampton Pressworks facility, advanced presses and tools ensure the precision of this process. Heat-activated glue is also applied to non-stainless backing plates to seal surfaces, further strengthening bonds and preventing corrosion.

Performance
- EBC RedStuff is popular for two key reasons – its ability to reduce dust by 60-90% and its exceptional braking performance. The minimal dust it produces is easy to clean, as it contains no steel fibers. Additionally, RedStuff pads deliver excellent initial bite and improve further with heat.
Technical Information
- As a hard-wearing pad, RedStuff requires a longer bed-in period of up to 1,000 miles to conform fully to the disc surface. However, it is an impressive fast-road option for repeated heavy braking, emitting significantly less dust than semi-metallic pads. Proven to reduce stopping distances by up to 13m compared to OEM pads, RedStuff features EBC’s Brake-In surface coating for faster bed-in and improved rotor conditioning. With a nominal friction coefficient of 0.5 and ECE R90 compliance, these pads combine performance and safety with minimal dust output.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well.
For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less.
