Description

PRL Motorsports Intercooler Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 Honda Civic Type R

PRL’s enhanced Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 Honda Civic Type R features a cold-side pipe with a larger diameter, ensuring smoother and more substantial airflow. It also maintains the original factory diameter for the hot-side outlet, boosting the turbocharger’s spooling efficiency. The kit combines cast aluminum and aluminum construction with 4-ply silicone couplers, and it includes all the hardware needed for installation.

4-Ply Silicone Couplers

Compared to steel or aluminum, silicone hoses have notably lower thermal heat transfer, making them more efficient in reducing heat soak. Factory rubber hoses tend to expand, especially under increased boost, and lose durability over time, which increases the risk of boost leaks, and standard rubber hoses have melted under extreme conditions during track tests with a shop car. The 4-ply, high-temperature silicone hose in the Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 is far superior in handling the intense heat from turbochargers than original rubber hoses. The custom-molded silicone design allows for bends that achieve significantly higher flow rates than metal tubing, and the hoses are designed for superior fitment, outperforming factory rubber hoses that often do not fit well, particularly when used with aftermarket radiators.

Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicles does the PRL Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 fit? The Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 fits the 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8) with the 2.0L turbo I4 K20C1 engine, including all variant models such as RHD and international models. Verify your vehicle’s year and engine before ordering.
Does the Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 require a tune or ECU calibration? No. No ECU calibration is required. The Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 is a complete kit with all the hardware needed for installation, including the charge pipe bracket, silicone couplers, and stainless steel lined clamps.
How does the Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 improve airflow? The cold-side pipe has a larger diameter than factory, ensuring smoother and more substantial airflow. The hot-side outlet keeps the original factory diameter, which boosts the turbocharger’s spooling efficiency. Custom-molded silicone bends also achieve significantly higher flow rates than metal tubing.
Why does the Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 use 4-ply silicone couplers? Silicone has notably lower thermal heat transfer than steel or aluminum, so it reduces heat soak. Factory rubber hoses expand under boost, lose durability over time, and can cause boost leaks, and standard rubber hoses have melted in track tests with a shop car. The 4-ply, high-temperature silicone handles turbocharger heat far better.
Is the Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 compatible with the factory intercooler? Yes. The kit is compatible with all factory fitment intercoolers. For optimal fitment and results, PRL recommends pairing it with the PRL Motorsports Billet Intercooler Upgrade.
Does the Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 fit with an aftermarket radiator? Minor trimming may be required to the radiator or fan shroud if using an aftermarket radiator. The silicone hoses in the Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit for FK8 are designed for superior fitment, outperforming factory rubber hoses that often do not fit well with aftermarket radiators.

About PRL Motorsports

PRL Motorsports started in 2007 as PRL Racing, a small group of enthusiasts outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, united by a single goal: faster lap times. What began trackside quickly earned a reputation for engineering excellence, producing race cars capable of 9-second quarter-mile passes as early as 2007 and 6-second times by 2009. By 2011, the operation had grown into PRL Motorsports, expanding from trackside tuning into full-scale product development and fabrication across Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Subaru platforms. In 2018, PRL Motorsports made a deliberate shift to focus entirely on manufacturing, concentrating their resources on engineering and producing performance components rather than installation and tuning services. Today, PRL Motorsports operates from a 25,000 sq/ft facility in Export, Pennsylvania, staffed by over 25 professionals and equipped with CNC machining departments, automated cutting stations, dual-spindle lathes, 5-axis milling centers, and robotic loading systems running 24-hour production capacity. Their catalog covers intercooler systems, intake systems, turbocharger systems, exhaust components, and throttle body and intake manifold adapters, many of which carry CARB compliance and SEMA Garage certification. From a 9-second S13 to tuning the first 10th-generation Civic into the 10-second range in 2019, PRL Motorsports has built its reputation on one principle: never settle, always push for the best possible outcome.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. Please review the full Terms & Conditions here.

BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
