Which turbo option is right for my R8?

The standard Gen II GTX3582 is rated by Boost Logic for 1,700 whp and spools well at the 800 whp base level. The G35-1050 and G40-1150 raise the rating to 1,800 and 2,000 whp. The G42-1200, G42-1450 and G45-1600 are rated from 2,300 to over 2,700 whp and are suggested by Boost Logic for built engines.

Does the R8 Spyder need anything extra?

Yes. Boost Logic states Spyder models require a front water tank for the intercooler circuit, so an R8 Spyder needs the Boost Logic Front Icebox for 4S Audi R8 with the kit. Coupe owners can add the same icebox as an upgrade, and it is offered with or without a water pump.

Is cutting or drilling needed to install the kit?

No. Boost Logic states the kit requires no cutting, drilling or other modification to the vehicle or engine. The oil feed and return bolt in and every turbo system joint is V-banded. The work is still a professional installation, and the car will need a calibration to suit the turbo size chosen.

Does the kit include the Boost Logic heat management package?

No. The heat management package, with its up pipe, turbo and wastegate blankets and intercooler thermal barriers, is sold separately, and the universal V10 header blankets are a separate item too. Boost Logic recommends them to keep engine bay temperatures down on a turbocharged R8, where the engine sits under glass.

Boost Logic’s Twin Turbo Kit for 4S Audi R8 is the second-generation R8 version of Boost Logic’s V10 twin turbo system, ordered by model year for 2017-2018 cars or the 2020 and later facelift. It pairs Garrett turbos with air-to-water intercoolers, dual heat exchangers and a titanium exhaust, and Boost Logic states it installs with no cutting, drilling or modification to the car or engine. The standard Gen II GTX3582 turbos are rated by Boost Logic for 1,700 whp with good spool at the 800 whp base level, and G-series upgrades reach 2,700+ whp on built engines. For an R8 owner keeping factory internals, the standard turbos or the G35 and G40 upgrades are the sensible range.

Design and Performance

The intercoolers are Boost Logic air-to-water units with Garrett cores and billet end tanks, rated by Boost Logic for more than 2,000 hp, plumbed through Vanjen piping. A dedicated water circuit with dual heat exchangers, a water tank carrying an extra temperature sensor bung, braided hose and heat-shielded lines keeps intake temperatures in check. The bolt-in oil feed and return and fully V-banded connections are what let the system go in without machining.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
