The AWE Touring Edition Exhaust for the DE5 Integra Type S is a full 3″ T304L stainless steel downpipe-back system built around what daily-driven Type S owners actually need; real performance gains and a deep, aggressive exhaust note without the cabin drone that makes highway cruising miserable. An integrated front pipe, bespoke mid-pipe resonator, and AWE’s patented 180 Technology work together to cancel drone-prone frequencies at the source while keeping the main bore straight-through for unrestricted flow. The system is validated for use with both the factory downpipe and an aftermarket catted unit, every component is developed specifically for the DE5 chassis, and Diamond Black tips finish it out at the rear valance.

Not Valved

During development, AWE ran a full evaluation of the factory valve and its behavior across various driving conditions to understand why it was there in the first place. The conclusion; there’s no meaningful volume difference between modes that actually justifies the valve’s existence. It stays closed in comfort mode, though it still opens past a certain throttle threshold, and sport and sport+ mode holds it open; sport+ also adds ECU-driven burbles. On the stock setup, exhaust flow routes through the side mufflers with the valve closed to manage interior volume and drone-prone frequencies, then shifts through the center when it opens. AWE’s configurations replace all of that with a full straight-through exhaust path running through the 180 Technology resonator, which handles drone suppression without mode-dependent routing or gimmicks, at all times, regardless of what driving mode you’re in. Low-throttle driving with the Touring Edition is genuinely civil; it’s deeper than stock, but not the kind of setup that announces itself every time you back out of the driveway.

180 Technology

Not every frequency an exhaust produces is one you want in your ears. AWE’s patented 180 Technology targets the problematic ones specifically, canceling them out while leaving the performance and the exhaust note intact. As exhaust gases exit the engine and flow into a 180 Technology-equipped resonator, they pass through strategically placed ports and into reflection chambers. The sound waves carried by those gases bounce off the chamber walls, and AWE’s acoustic engineers control the size and placement of those ports and chambers based on the specific acoustics of each vehicle platform. That geometry determines exactly when the reflected waves re-enter the main flow; the timing produces a wave that is 180 degrees out of phase with the unwanted frequencies, canceling them at the source. Each resonator is developed around a specific vehicle, not applied as a universal fix, which is a large part of why AWE exhausts carry the reputation they do. No flow restriction, no drone, and an exhaust note that sounds exactly like it should.

Front Pipes

The system includes a full 3-inch front pipe with a unique flange and gasket design that maintains the full diameter from inlet to outlet. It’s integrated into the exhaust system rather than a standalone component, and it mates to both the factory downpipe and aftermarket downpipes. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse.
