The AWE Tuning Touring Edition Exhaust for the DE5 Acura Integra is a 3″ T304L stainless steel downpipe-back system built around an integrated front pipe, thick-walled midpipe resonator, and a DE5-specific tuning of AWE’s 180 Technology at the rear. Exhaust gases move through precision ports and into reflection chambers where sound waves bounce off the walls, and the size and placement of those elements controls exactly when the reflected waves re-enter the main flow, producing a wave 180 degrees out of phase with the problem frequencies and canceling them out. The result is a deep, controlled exhaust note with zero highway drone, full straight-through flow, and no sacrifice in power, compatible with or without an aftermarket catted downpipe.

Touring Edition Exhaust

• The Touring Edition Exhaust runs a 3″ T304L stainless steel downpipe-back configuration built around an integrated front pipe, a robust midpipe resonator, and thick-walled T304L stainless steel throughout. A DE5-specific tuning of AWE’s 180 Technology at the rear keeps things drone-free at highway speeds while holding onto a deep, aggressive exhaust note, making it a daily driver setup that doesn’t ask you to give anything up.

What is 180 Technology?

• AWE’s patented 180 Technology eliminates the drone-prone frequencies that would otherwise build up in the cabin at highway speeds, keeping all the noise where it belongs, behind the vehicle. The system works by routing exhaust gases through strategically placed ports into reflection chambers inside the resonator, where sound waves bounce off the walls. The size and placement of those ports and chambers controls exactly when the reflected waves feed back into the main exhaust flow, producing a wave that runs 180 degrees out of phase with the problem frequencies and cancels them out. The design is fully straight-through, so flow and power stay completely unrestricted, and it works with or without an aftermarket catted downpipe.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• AWE ran a full evaluation of the factory valve during R&D, looking at how it behaves across different driving conditions. What they found wasn’t particularly compelling: comfort mode keeps the valve closed but opens it past a certain throttle threshold anyway, sport and sport+ keep it open, and sport+ layers in ECU-generated burbles on top of that. On the stock setup, exhaust routes through the side mufflers with the valve closed to manage cabin volume, then shifts through the center when open, but AWE found no meaningful volume difference between modes that made retaining the valve worth the complexity. Their solution routes exhaust straight through the 180 Technology resonator at all times, regardless of driving mode, cutting drone while keeping full output. At low throttle, the Touring Edition stays quiet enough to move through a neighborhood without drawing attention, just a deeper, cleaner note without any of the factory workarounds.
