The AWE Tuning Touring Edition Axle-Back Exhaust for the C7 Z06 and ZR1 Corvette (without AFM) is designed to enhance the car’s exhaust tone and flow while maintaining a refined, everyday-drivable character. It replaces the factory rear section with straight-through mufflers that produce a deeper, more resonant note without introducing cabin drone. The system uses precision-crafted stainless steel tubing and mounts to factory locations for a direct-fit installation, while the polished chrome tips provide a clean, integrated look in the rear valance. It preserves the Corvette’s natural throttle response and high-RPM character, offering a subtle performance and acoustic improvement without compromising drivability.

What is 180 Technology?

• AWE 180 Technology® uses resonators with strategically placed ports and reflection chambers to manage exhaust sound waves. As exhaust gases flow through, the sound waves bounce within the chambers, with port sizes and locations precisely tuned for each vehicle. The reflected waves then rejoin the main exhaust stream 180 degrees out of phase, canceling unwanted frequencies without reducing performance. Each system is specifically engineered for the vehicle’s acoustic profile rather than relying on a universal design, producing a consistent, refined signature tone. This approach minimizes cabin drone and harsh frequencies while maintaining full power and the exhaust’s aggressive character.

Exhaust Tips

• Each system comes with three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips in Chrome Silver or Diamond Black, all embossed with the AWE logo. The tips are individually adjustable, letting you set their projection from the bumper to suit your preference.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During development, AWE Tuning analyzed the factory exhaust valve across different driving modes. They found that volume remains largely consistent, except in Comfort mode, where the valve stays closed until a certain throttle threshold is met. In Sport and Sport+ modes, the valve remains open, with Sport+ adding ECU-controlled burble effects. In the stock configuration, exhaust flows through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to reduce cabin noise and minimize drone, while opening the valve directs flow through the center section.

Conversion Kits

• AWE Tuning designed the system for simple switching between Track and Touring Editions, allowing cabin sound levels to be adjusted as needed.
