The AWE 2020 Non-Resonated Touring Edition Exhaust for the MK5 Toyota Supra uses a 3-inch T304L stainless steel cat-back layout designed to improve exhaust flow while maintaining a controlled, refined sound profile. By removing the mid-pipe resonator and pairing the system with AWE’s 180 Technology® rear section, it produces a deeper and more pronounced tone under load while remaining composed during steady cruising. The straight-through design supports the B58 engine’s turbocharged characteristics without compromising throttle response or low-end drivability. Finished with 5-inch chrome silver tips, the system adds a clean, factory-compatible look while retaining the durability and precise fitment expected from a purpose-built Supra exhaust.
Touring Edition Exhaust
- The Touring Edition Exhaust balances aggressive performance with refined character, built as a dual 3” T304L stainless steel downpipe-back system for straight-through flow without compromising daily drivability
- Features a stamped stainless steel merge upstream, equivalent to dual 3” tubing directly off the downpipe, providing roughly 65% more flow than stock and accommodating a range of aftermarket downpipes
- Beyond the merge, the system splits into dual 3” piping to optimize exhaust flow along the entire route
- Rear section incorporates AWE’s patented 180 Technology® to cancel drone-prone frequencies
- Delivers a clean, full-bodied B58 exhaust note that is deep and sophisticated without introducing cabin drone
What is 180 Technology?
- AWE’s 180 Technology routes exhaust gases through a resonator with precisely positioned ports leading into reflection chambers, where the sound waves bounce off the chamber walls
- The size and placement of the ports and chambers are tuned for each application, controlling when the reflected waves rejoin the main exhaust flow
- Reflected waves meet the main flow 180 degrees out of phase, canceling frequencies that typically produce drone or harsh tones
- Each system is engineered around the specific acoustic characteristics of the vehicle rather than using a universal design, ensuring consistent, balanced sound across different setups
- The result is a controlled, refined exhaust note that eliminates unwanted tones while preserving full performance
Exhaust Tips
- Each exhaust system comes with three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips in either chrome silver or diamond black, each stamped with the AWE logo. The tips are individually adjustable, allowing you to set their extension into the bumper to match your preference.
Nope, It’s Not Valved
- During development, AWE thoroughly studied the factory exhaust valve under a range of driving conditions and found that overall volume does not change significantly between modes that engage the valve. The valve stays closed only in Comfort mode, opening once a specific throttle threshold is reached. In Sport and Sport+ modes, it remains open, with Sport+ adding ECU-controlled burbles. In the stock setup, closing the valve routes exhaust through the side mufflers to lower cabin volume and minimize drone, while opening it directs flow through the center section.
Conversion Kits
- AWE designed the system so switching between Track and Touring Editions is straightforward if you want to adjust cabin sound levels later.
