A VX220 Turbo set up for racing is a demanding car to tune. Its torque is strong in the midrange, it carries a lot of speed into braking zones, and its rear bay runs hot. A single-adjuster damper can’t separate the problems all of that creates. The Nitron VX220 Turbo RacePro 3 kit is Nitron’s full-race answer, with independent rebound, low-speed compression and high-speed compression adjustment at every corner. You can work on how the car rotates on entry, how it puts boost down on exit and how it handles curbs, and each change stays within its own area. The Nitron VX220 Turbo RacePro 3 uses a 46mm piston for precise, repeatable control under heavy loads. Inverted mounting cuts unsprung weight, and hose-mounted reservoirs front and rear keep the damping consistent across a full race weekend, from qualifying through the last lap. Mounting brackets come with the kit, supplied for your car’s drive side.

Specialized Bi-Axis Hose Fittings

The rear of a VX220 Turbo is a hard place to run hoses. The turbocharger, its intake and charge plumbing, the exhaust and the subframe all compete for room, and the bay gets very hot. At the front, the hoses have to clear the wishbones, steering rack and radiator ducting. On the Nitron VX220 Turbo RacePro 3, Nitron’s Bi-Axis fittings let each hose swivel on two axes where it leaves the damper. You can aim each line along a clean path from the start, away from the turbo and exhaust, without tight bends or contact with moving parts. Low-speed compression controls roll and pitch from driver inputs. It sets how firmly the car holds its platform under braking and how much weight moves to the rear when boost arrives. Rebound controls how quickly each corner extends. Balancing it front to rear changes how the car rotates on entry and how planted the rear feels as you accelerate out of a corner. High-speed compression handles fast, sharp inputs from curbs and track seams on its own, so the car can ride curbs aggressively without changing the platform you’ve set. The hose-mounted reservoirs give the oil and nitrogen extra volume, which keeps pressure stable and controls temperature as the damper works through a long stint. Very low internal friction and inverted mounting let the Nitron VX220 Turbo RacePro 3 respond to the first millimeter of wheel movement. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse.
