Is trunk drilling required to install it?

Yes. The wing attaches through its own dedicated trunk brackets, and the trunk lid must be drilled to mount them. Owners who want no drilling can look at the bolt-on 1600mm version, which mounts in the factory spoiler holes on the trunk instead.

Does the 3D GT-Wing 1390mm for FD2 fit the US Civic sedan or coupe?

The 3D GT-Wing 1390mm for FD2 cars is made for the Japanese-market FD2 Civic Type R sedan. The manufacturer does not list the US-market FG Civic, so fitment there is not confirmed. If your car is an imported FD2 Type R, it is the intended application; for anything else, check with Bulletproof Automotive first.

Why choose the narrower 1390mm wing over the 1600mm?

The 1390mm wing is the width the manufacturer actually raced in Super Taikyu ST4, and it was a designated aero part for the 2008 series. It is 0.1kg lighter at 3.4kg. The 1600mm wing has more span and is aimed at very fast circuits. Pick the narrow wing for its race pedigree, the wide one for outright span.

How is the wing adjusted?

The mounting allows 15 positions that combine angle and height in a 5 x 3 pattern. A lower angle suits fast tracks with long straights, and more angle adds rear grip for slower, tighter layouts. Move one position at a time and note the change.

Does the carbon need a protective coating?

It is recommended rather than required. The wing is clear finished twill-weave wet carbon with dry carbon brackets, and the manufacturer suggests a UV-cut clear coat for cars that live outdoors or are kept for many years. The extra coat helps the carbon resist yellowing and fading from sunlight.

Description

J’s Racing 3D GT-Wing 1390mm for FD2 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s 3D GT-Wing 1390mm for FD2 is the wing the Osaka tuner raced: it went into action on the number 69 J’s Racing Civic ADVAN in the Super Taikyu ST4 class and was a designated aero part for the 2008 series. At 1390mm across it is the narrower of the two Type 1 widths, with the same 195mm wing height, and it weighs 3.4kg. The element is twill-weave wet carbon and the trunk brackets are dry carbon. Choose it for an FD2 Civic Type R that runs in endurance or time attack events, or for an owner who wants a wing that stays inside the body width; for a show car, the race-bred shape and drilling make little sense.

Development and Testing

Endurance racing shaped this wing. A single flap was chosen so the car carries less drag over a long stint, while the profile concentrates downforce in medium and high speed corners where an FD2 needs a planted rear. Its 15 angle and height positions give a race team room to retune between circuits without new hardware.

Features

Raced on the number 69 Civic in Super Taikyu ST4
Narrow 1390mm span with a 195mm wing height
Wet carbon element in twill weave, brackets in dry carbon
Low-drag single flap for long stints
15 positions combining angle and height
3.4kg wing weight

Applications

Honda Civic Type R: FD2 | 2007-2010 | 2.0L K20A

Notes

J’s Racing builds this wing for the JDM FD2 Civic Type R sedan, so it may not fit a US-market FG Civic
Holes must be drilled in the trunk lid for the dedicated brackets
Exposed carbon can fade in sunlight, and J’s Racing advises a UV-cut clear coat on cars stored outside or kept long term
The wider 3D GT-Wing 1600mm for the FD2 Honda Civic Type R is listed separately for high-speed circuits
Each wing is produced after the order is placed in Japan, and Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time with J’s Racing USA

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
