COBB Tuning’s Redline Carbon Fiber Intake swaps the factory airbox on the FL5 Civic Type R and DE5 Integra Type S for a hand-laid carbon fiber box with an integrated scoop and a velocity stack MAF housing 36% larger in cross section than stock. It holds CARB Executive Order numbers, so it stays legal on a registered car in all 50 states. COBB states plainly that it requires tuning, so it belongs on a car that already runs, or will soon run, an Accessport with a Stage 1+ or Stage 2 map. Owners keeping the factory calibration should look elsewhere.

Construction and Airflow

Several layers of 2×2 twill carbon sheet form the airbox, finished in a gloss clear coat that resists heat and UV fade. A large pre-oiled filter, rated by COBB at 22% more surface area than the factory element, feeds a one-piece high temperature composite MAF housing. Its CFD-designed velocity stack and flow straightener grid steady the air ahead of the sensor, and because that larger housing changes MAF scaling, the Redline Carbon Fiber Intake needs a calibration written for it.

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas.
