HKS’s SQV IV Kit for FL5 Honda Civic Type R is the fourth generation of the valve that made the sound famous, drawn up specifically for the K20C rather than adapted to it. The relief-less design is what sets it apart: at low boost it stays shut and holds the set pressure stably, and the moment the throttle closes it dumps the pressure the turbocharger no longer needs, taking load off the compressor instead of letting it fight a closed throttle. HKS mounts it in a visible part of the engine bay, so the polished body reads as a deliberate piece of the build, and vented to atmosphere it produces the high-frequency, crisp release note that no diaphragm valve reproduces.

Design and Performance

A pull-type valve operating across its full range rather than cracking open at a threshold, which is what HKS means by relief-less.
