Do the side fences require drilling?

Yes. Mounting holes have to be drilled, and the fences are fixed with the bolts and nuts supplied. Because they are made for the Type-GT body kit, the holes go into that bodywork, so plan the job with the shop that fitted or painted the kit.

Will the Phantom Side Fences for AP1 cars fit without the Type-GT kit?

No. The Phantom Side Fences for AP1 cars are shaped exclusively for the Type-GT body kit and are listed for AP1 and AP2 S2000s that wear it. They are not designed for the factory body or for other aero kits, and the mounting holes are drilled into the kit.

What do side fences actually do?

They are vertical fins that manage airflow along the sides of the car. The manufacturer designed them to help prevent flow separation, organize the air on the body sides and support clean airflow to the rear wing, with the aim of better stability in crosswinds at speed.

Very light. The manufacturer measured about 65g per side for the dry carbon version, with each fence 680mm long and 65mm tall. Moving to dry carbon also improved strength compared with the earlier version of the part, so the saving does not come at the cost of durability.

Do they pair with a GT wing?

Yes. Part of their purpose is to straighten the airflow travelling toward the rear wing, so they make the most sense on a Type-GT car that also runs a large rear wing, such as the swan neck wings the manufacturer offers for wide-body S2000s.

Description

J’s Racing Phantom Side Fences for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s Phantom Side Fences for AP1 and AP2 S2000s revive the side fences made for the Osaka tuner’s Type-GT body kit, now in dry carbon. Vertical fins of this kind, also called strakes, appear on Super GT and FIA GT3 cars, and they do more than their size suggests. J’s Racing designed them to resist airflow separation, tidy the flow along the body sides and help straighten the air heading to the rear wing. By damping pressure swings from crosswinds, they are intended to add straight-line stability at speed. They suit Type-GT cars built for time attack.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
